20 Times Insta Poet Kayil Crow Basically Saved Our Lives
Life isn't always easy.
Instagram poet Kayil Crow is no stranger to being let down and having to pick herself up again. Try, fail, and try again — don't ever give up. That idealistic motto is a common theme throughout her poems.
She doesn't shy away from the brutal truth that everything isn't alright all the time. Sometimes, life is tough and achieving your goals seems impossible, but Kayil's poems give her readers a sense of hope and faith in their ability to fulfill their dreams.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Kayil and learn a little bit more about who she is and the influence writing has had on her life. Here's what Kayil had to say:
Q: Where did you grow up?
KC: I grew up in Kingwood, TX the majority of my life and now live in Woodlands, TX.
Q: When and why did you start writing?
KC: I started writing in elementary school, but didn't get really serious about writing until I was in middle school and never stopped. There has been a lot of heartache that has happened to me growing up and it is a sweet release to write down everything I feel without worrying about facing judgment from anyone.
I could be Me, unconditionally and unapologetically.
Q: What inspires you most when you write?
KC: People inspire me to write. There is too much heartache, too much pain and sorrow in this world that people hang onto without any hope for the future. Whether it be because they don't know how to let go, won't let it go, or are too afraid to face it; I want my writing to be the light that they look to.
Because I too have known pain, know the struggles of letting go, and letting God heal the places that I can't fix myself. And if there's the smallest chance that my words can help them move forward and heal, then that's what I'm going to do.
I have a passion for people and my heart goes out to them. If my writing can impact one life, two lives or even three, them I'm sincerely grateful. God has blessed me with the gift of words and I'm going to share them the best way I know how.
Q: What is your favorite thing about writing?
KC: My favorite thing about writing is the release, the healing. In my own personal life there are many battles I have had to face alone, and it was not easy. Through writing, I can put my pen to paper and bleed out every thing my heart is feeling, experiencing and coping with. I can say exactly what's on my mind, all without fear of who reads it.
It's a kind of trust that's hard to explain. A bond that can't be broken. With my words, I can share them and find that other people are going through the same thing, looking for the answers I already have. So then I can share my journey of healing, the way I found my answers, so that they may develop hope.
In all, my writing has been a saving grace for myself. I can only hope and pray that it can be a saving grace for others too.

"Give yourself some grace. Yes I know the harsh punishment you place on yourself. I know because I'm guilty of doing the same. But you deserve grace. Don't be so hard on yourself, Because there's so much to life than living under the constant scrutiny you give yourself."

"She wanted certain things not many other girls talked about. She envisioned dreams of marriage, of a love that tattoos your very pulse. Not one night stands. But her mouth couldn't voice the desires of her heart just yet. Not until a similar soul comes along to show her that her dream was also his dream. And it would be the perfect time to start the dream of forever."
