About Susan J. Elliott

Susan J. Elliott, J.D., M.Ed. is the developer of the Getting Past Your Past series of workshops and seminars, author of “Getting Past Your Breakup: How To Turn A Devastating Loss Into The Best Thing That Ever Happened To You” (Da Capo, 2009). Getting Past Your Breakup is typically ranked in the top 3 divorce books on Amazon.com and has over 100 5-star reviews as well as positive reviews from media and bloggers.

She is also a media commentator (interviewed and quoted extensively on television, radio, print and internet), speaker, relationship coach, developer of Getting Past Your Breakup bootcamps (both live and on-line), host of Getting Past Your Breakup radio show and author of the Getting Past Your Past and Getting Past Your Breakup blogs.

She began her helping career after a painful divorce that forced her to reinvent herself.  She went back to school to earn the degrees to help others get over devastating losses.  Many readers find her no-nonsense but empathic approach very comforting.  GPYB is a clear roadmap to healing from a devastating breakup and turning it into the best thing that ever happened to you.

In addition to writing, speaking and expert commentary, Ms. Elliott also does breakup and relationship coaching in person in Westchester County, New York and via telephone and Skype.  She currently has clients from all over the country as well as internationally. She runs "breakup bootcamps" on-line and in person.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Holyoke College where she graduated magna cum laude with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa, her Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College and her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.

She lives in New York.
