About Kim Openo

If you seek a counselor who can intuitively guide you through finding love for self by dissipating the clouds of depression or anxiety I am an excellent choice. Using methods such as mindfulness and relaxation within a humanistic foundation, I assist you reach the joyful life you imagine for yourself. I am moved to do more than simply help repair a problem; instead my motivation is in supporting the positive growth essential for a life of meaning.  Grief and bereavement is a specialty, so I can assist you with difficult feelings from the death of a loved one, handling chronic illness, infertility, pregnancy loss, or divorce.

Are you a couple looking to rekindle the original connection that made you fall in love or simply stop the fights that seem to always be the same? My secondary specialty is in helping couples stop unhealthy fighting habits and develop new communication tools with emotionally focused couple’s therapy. If your goal is to free your relationship from struggle and cultivate mutual love and respect, I can help you get there. I can also help couples that are co-parenting in confusion after divorce get to a place of like-mindedness when it comes to their children.

I studied my Master of Science in mental health counseling and a certification in marriage and family therapy from Capella University. I have broad experience working with teens, adults, couples, & families at a local agency for two years with many types of client issues ranging from anxiety to schizophrenia. Because of this vast knowledge, I develop individual interventions by looking for each client’s unique potential for growth.  At A Place for Me Counseling in Atlanta, GA  I work under the direction of Erlese Caruth, LPC NCC and supervision of Don Durkee, LPC NCC CPCS.
