Gen X & Boomer Women Have Completely Stopped Enjoying 8 Things Gen Z & Millennials Can't Get Enough Of
Chay_Tee / Shutterstock While Gen Z and millennial women embrace habits and experiences that feel new and exciting to them, many Gen X and boomer women have noped out of them.
That doesn't mean their age has made them boring, either. They know exactly what they like and what they're OK leaving behind. They're not about to let anything they don't totally love steal their time and energy.
Things Gen X and boomer women have no interest in anymore and Gen Z and millennial women can't get enough of:
1. Being available 24/7

For younger generations, being constantly reachable feels pretty normal. Their phone is always within arm's reach, and there's often an unspoken expectation that they'll answer sooner rather than later. However, a lot of Gen X and boomer women have reached the point where they don't want to live that way anymore.
After spending years dealing with everyone else's needs, they're ready to prioritize themselves. They don't see a delayed response as rude, and they don't think every invitation is an obligation. It's wonderfully freeing to put their phone aside and ignore their digital life for a few hours.
2. Oversharing on social media
Many Gen X and boomer women came of age before every event or milestone could be broadcast all over the internet, so the habit of documenting everything can feel a bit exhausting.
They believe not every important moment needs an audience, and some things are best left between those who experienced them. They basically have no interest in sharing their lives publicly and really couldn't care less about the likes.
3. Going out to trendy places
Middle-aged women don't choose a coffee shop because the pink drink would make a good Instagram post. They get their coffee at the shop they like best.
They don't need a restaurant to have a certain aesthetic or a viral menu item to justify going there. They prioritize what they like, not the idea of going somewhere to be seen. The experience matters more to them than whether other people think the place is cool.
4. The idea of hustle culture

Being busy was formerly something of a status symbol, especially for women. But now, Gen X and boomer women see no real reason to work harder every waking hour of the day.
What younger people see as ambition can sometimes just look like unnecessary stress from their perspective. They'd rather finish their work and enjoy the hours that belong to them instead of looking for ways to monetize their free time. At this stage, a quiet evening and taking a day off feel far more valuable.
5. Keeping up with trends
Trends come and go, but now they seem to arrive before you've even had a chance to decide if you liked the last one. Gen Z and millennials may have fun experimenting with whatever is currently having a moment, but these more mature women don't feel compelled to participate anymore.
If they like something, they'll keep it, simple as that. After living through decades of changing tastes, it's easier for them to recognize that most trends are temporary, so they prefer to stick with things that are tried-and-true.
6. Turning everything into content
For younger generations, it can be second nature to pull out a phone when something funny or even mildly interesting happens. Anything from a beautiful meal to their daily routine can become part of someone's online feed. That habit can actually feel strangely performative for Gen X and noomer women.
They understand the appeal of having moments that belong entirely to them. There's freedom in doing something enjoyable without worrying about how it will look on a screen or whether anyone else will react to it.
7. Dating apps

Dating apps can make finding someone sound wonderfully easy to younger generations. In reality, though, this process can be exhausting, and Gen X and boomer women know that. They remember meeting people by simply being out in the world. The idea of evaluating potential partners from a collection of photos and a few prompts doesn't sound very fun to them.
Many women in these generations have already had enough life experience to recognize what kind of relationships work for them and what behavior they're not willing to entertain. They may prefer to meet someone organically or be introduced through people they trust rather than sorting through profiles online.
8. Embracing chaotic lifestyles
Plenty of the late-40s-and-older crowd have learned that there's a distinction between having a full life and making life far too complicated. Gen Z and millennials tend to joke about thriving in chaos and living a messy lifestyle, but older women don't want that anymore.
Peace feels a lot more luxurious to them than constant excitement and activity. They may genuinely prefer an evening at home over a last-minute invitation to go somewhere. They haven't forgotten how to have fun; they just have a much different definition of the word now.
