People Who Are Mental & Emotional Weirdos Usually Say 9 Phrases In Casual Conversation
olga_sova | Shutterstock What makes someone a weirdo is pretty subjective, but when someone is mentally and emotionally weird, it stands out especially when you're trying to chat with them.
The truth is that most people who get labeled as weird aren’t doing something wrong. Instead, they just see the world differently than the average person. That could actually be a strength, even if some of the things they say throw you off at first.
Mental and emotional weirdos tend to say these phrases in casual conversation:
1. ‘I don’t usually get embarrassed’

If someone told you that feeling embarrassed is pretty rare for them, it would make you stop and think. Embarrassment seems like such a universal human emotion that it’s hard not to think of someone who doesn’t experience it as a weirdo.
Psychologists feel like a lack of embarrassment or shame means someone is a psychopath, but not in a bad way. Instead, they’re a “successful psychopath.” They still have a high level of confidence, but there’s a slim chance that they’ll actually hurt anyone.
It’s almost like they have no inhibitions, which makes them feel comfortable taking bigger risks in life than other people do. It seems weird to the average person, but it probably works pretty well for them.
2. ‘I have a system for things like that’
People usually think about organizational systems as the way others try to keep their physical space free from clutter. When someone is thinking on a different frequency, though, they might be more sensitive to mental clutter as well.
Research has shown that some people thrive with orderly systems, while others need a little more chaos. Someone who seems a bit weird is probably going to have a very unique system that they’ve developed based on what works best for them. It might not make sense to anyone else, but it’s just what they need.
3. ‘Most people are predictable’
There’s no perfect formula you can use to predict what someone will do, but people who have a weird vibe probably think that they’ve come pretty close to finding one. And it turns out that they’re closer to the truth than you might think.
Based on previous scientific findings, we know that human behavior is extremely predictable. Everyone has their own autonomy, of course, but patterns always repeat themselves. Not everyone is willing to slow down long enough to pick up on these things, so the ones who do will be seen as outliers.
4. ‘I knew you would say that’
Despite the fact that people are predictable, it’s actually really hard to know what someone is thinking. Trying to understand people on such a deep level is known as personal perception, and it’s not possible without actual mind-reading abilities.
Most people would accept that, but the weirdos out there might see things a bit differently. They don’t actually think they’re mind readers, but their pattern recognition skills might make them believe they can figure out what someone is thinking, almost like they’re finishing their sentences.
5. ‘I notice things other people miss’

The human mind is hardwired to pick up on patterns so well that it’s hard to recognize it’s happening. People who come off as a little bit weird take this to another level. Instead of just having the same basic skills as everyone else, they can see even more.
Just because your brain works a certain way doesn’t mean it’s always accurate. There are a lot of things that we all miss every day because we just aren’t paying attention. These people don’t let those things fall through the cracks and file them away for later.
6. ‘Nothing is meaningless’
Believing that everything has meaning is a bit like believing everything happens for a reason. It gives people a sense of comfort and purpose in a world where anything can happen randomly with no clear explanation.
Logically, some things are meaningless, or at least so inconsequential that it doesn’t even matter. But weirdos are always trying to find connections, so they’ll believe that there really is a good reason to analyze everything and think about how it fits into the bigger picture.
7. ‘That’s one way to think about it’
Some people might think the weirdos of the world are the ones who don’t defend their beliefs, or are willing to hear others out. But the opposite is true. People who think differently understand that no two people are the same and that different perspectives aren’t a threat.
Our culture paints disagreement in a negative light, but it’s actually one of the best ways to solve problems. Instead of picking a fight whenever they can, weirdos acknowledge that someone else has a different opinion and try to figure out how they can use that to work together.
8. ‘I like watching people’
This might sound kind of strange on the surface, but someone who says they like to watch other people probably doesn’t mean it in a creepy way. Instead, they’re probably saying they like observational learning, or learning by watching other people in action.
This behavior is usually associated with kids, but that doesn’t mean it’s useless for adults. Anyone can learn a lot from watching, especially since it requires slowing down and being quiet. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but this particular group definitely sees the value in it.
9. ‘My brain works a little differently’

Really, someone is just stating a fact when they say this. Everyone does interpret information differently because of the way their brain works. We all think that our own conclusions are correct, though, which can lead to conflict.
What’s so weird about this is that someone is not only acknowledging a scientific fact, but also sending the message that they don’t expect everyone to be on the same page because of how the brain works. Most people can’t comprehend that, but they can.
