Are Mickey and Minnie Mouse married or dating?

An inseparable duo, Mickey and Minnie are very much #couplegoals. But have they ever tied the knot? And why weren’t we invited to the wedding?

Walt Disney himself explained in the September 30, 1933 issue of Film Pictorial Magazine that “If the story calls for a romantic courtship, then Minnie is the girl; but when the story requires a married couple, then they appear as man and wife.”

Disney also said in the interview “In private life, Mickey is married to Minnie. What it really amounts to is that Minnie is, for screen purposes, his leading lady.”

So in a way, they are keeping their professional life separate from their private life. And we can’t help but respect their wishes.

Who is Mickey Mouse in real life?

Mickey and Minnie Mouse are inspired by a real-life couple. In fact, people who were close to Disney himself noticed that he and his wife Lily have influenced the characters.

“It’s fairly certain that Walt was as coy as Mickey in romance. When he and Lilly first met, for instance, he would frequently offer to drive her home, along with another ink-and-paint girl, in the studio’s Ford roundabout. Walt always dropped Lillian off last, even though her home was closer. Lillian enjoyed that Walt wanted to spend more time with her,” according to Disney Legacy Author Jeff Kurtti.

Mickey and Minnie's original voice actors also helped sell the cartoon couple’s real love for the other. Wayne Allwine (who voiced Mickey from 1977 to 2009) was married to Russi Taylor (who voiced Minnie from 1986 to 2019) from 1991 until his death in 2009.

“But the closeness and bond between voices and characters was surely echoed in their performances, as well as in the way they perceived Mickey and Minnie as a reflection of their own personalities, talents, and emotions,” said Kurtti.

Are Mickey and Minnie Mouse twins?

No, they are not related in any way, because that would just be weird and would seeing as how they're a couple.

However, Mickey and Minnie shared the last name "Mouse" before they were technically married — but that's only because it’s who they are, mice.

Just like with Donald and Daisy Duck. They aren’t related or married, but they have the same last name as it’s another way to tell us what they are, ducks.

How old are Mickey and Minnie?

They both share a birthday: November 18, 1928. This is the same day “Steamboat Willie” released, and would technically make them 92 years old in 2020.

Although they both appeared in the short, Minnie wasn’t an official character until 1929 with the short film “Plane Crazy.”

And thus the couple began their wonderful and long-lasting relationship.
