Anyone who watches reality television has always had some kind of doubt that what they were watching wasn’t actually real. While the people who appear on our screens are real, the drama is largely believed to be contrived by producers and writers for the shows. For example, the Real Housewives franchise, Jerry Springer, Survivor, American Idol, and even Catfish!

But another show accused of duping fans? 90-Day Fiancé. The series follows the lives of couples, who usually meet online, and their attempts to receive a K-1 visa to remain in the country. They have 90 days to decide if they wish to wed, before the visas expire. Since its inception, there have been five spin-offs, including 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.

The third season premiered in August, and right away, fans had major speculation that what they were seeing wasn’t true, particularly in the case of Caesar Mack. Is Caesar’s relationship on 90-Day Fiancé fake?

According to Soap Dirt, Caesar faked his relationship with alleged girlfriend, Maria, whom he had never even met! Maria is from the Ukraine, and Caesar was planning on meeting her in Mexico to propose. But now, rumors suggest he faked the relationship to further his acting career. What fans originally thought to be a case of catfishing, is really Caesar doing the catfishing, as it's reported he only joined the show in an attempt to become famous.

And if that wasn’t crazy enough, there’s proof to support the suspicions. On the website ExploreTalent, a networking site, he’s listed as an actor and model. The page has since been deleted, but not before someone snapped a screenshot.

However, a user on a thread on Reddit claims Caesar is a real person, and so is Maria.

Said the user, who goes to the nail salon where Caesar works, “Their relationship was ending before the show even started — and [Maria] wasn’t interested in being on camera. He only took part in the show to build up a film roll. He is not being paid a TON. (Like $1,200 an episode I think he said?). But they pay more for the ‘Tell All,’ pay for travel and stuff for a lot of shots and he wants to get into doing commercial work, so he took this as an ACTING job. His [girlfriend] was aware of that.”

Another source says the producer had to make up drama because they had already broken up.

Said the insider, “There was a fair bit of acting on his end. One of the reasons they were already basically breaking up was because she wasn’t particularly interested in leaving her home, or moving [to North Carolina] — and he obviously felt the same. [Caesar] does not blame her for them breaking up, or think of her as a gold digger or green card digger. He sent her money because he could and wanted to, but it was way less than $40,000. (He didn’t give me an exact number.)”

Caesar says he met Maria five years ago on a Ukrainian dating website. Since they started talking, he’s sent her over $40,000, though didn’t meet her. His co-workers believed he was being scammed after noticing Maria never used his name in the videos she sent him, and that she may have been sending them to multiple men.

Neither party has confirmed nor denied the rumors, but for now, it’s safe to assume that not everything you see on television is real. Duh.
