On August 14th, the body of Lyric McHenry was found dead on a street in the Bronx. She had been out celebrating her birthday that evening. Lyric was found on the sidewalk at around 5am above the Major Deegan Expressway on August 14th. She was wearing a pajama top and underwear. Reportedly she had a bag of cocaine in her possession. She was found sprawled out on the sidewalk with bruised knees. There was no other visible injuries. Her autopsy revealed that Lyric died of a cocaine, heroin and alcohol overdose. Now 29-year old Alexis Mejia-Ramirez has been arrested. Who is Alexis Mejia-Ramirez?

1. The charges

Alexis-Mejia Ramirez is from the Bronx, New York. He was arrested October 15th and charged with concealment of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence in an effort to hide Lyric's remains. He was released from jail on a $7,500 bond (or $1,500 cash) on October 26. Meija-Ramirez was identified thanks to video surveillance, phone records, and interviews of witnesses. This was Meija-Ramirez's first arrest.

2. He didn't work alone

Meija-Ramirez reportedly worked alongside two other men to move Lyric's dead body. The two other men are still at large. McHenry was found on a Bronx sidewalk above the Major Deegan Expressway around 5am on August 14th. She was rushed to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was 20 weeks pregnant. McHenry's friends and family insist she didn't know she was pregnant.

3. August 14th

On August 14th, Lyric was celebrating her 26th birthday at the Dream Hotel Downtown with her sister and a number of friends. She reportedly left the party sometime after midnight in a white BMW with a man none of her friends knew behind the wheel.

4. Her best friend

Lyric's best friend was EJ Johnson, Magic Johnson's son. 5. Lyric's dad

Lyric's father is film director Doug McHenry. In an interview with the New York Times he said, “I don’t want this to be: black girl, drugs, something funky went on, what do you expect?” He said she was not a wild child and her death “was something that could have happened to anyone’s girl.” Lyric was named for the first film her father directed, Jason's Lyric

6. Lyric's life

Lyric grew up in Beverly Hills and attended the prestigious private Marlbrough School was a graduate of Stanford University. She and her sister Maya produced and starred in the 2016 reality show for E! that focused on EJ's unique fashion. After that project, she went on to work for Complex network as an associate producer. She was currently working as a freelance writer and producer. When she was 15 she worked on Barack Obama's presidential campaign. “Working for this campaign made my awkward stage at 15 so much doper,” she captioned a photo of her standing next to First Lady Michelle Obama.
