Instagram Twenty One Pilots are having a very successful (albeit busy) 2018. On Friday, Oct. 5, they will release their long-anticipated fifth studio album, Trench.
In July, the band released the first two singles from the upcoming album, titled “Jumpsuit” and “Nico and the Niners.” Later, “Levitate” was leaked on Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal.
The band skyrocketed to fame after the 2015 release of their fourth album, Blurryface.
Blurryface includes some of their most noteworthy hits, including “Ride” and “Stressed Out.” Its release and subsequent explosion of popularity coincided with singer Tyler Joseph’s wedding to his current wife, 25-year-old Jenna Black. The two got engaged in July of 2014 and became small-time Vine stars around the same time. Black is also the inspiration behind one of the songs on Blurryface (but more on that later).
It’s no secret that behind every successful man is a stunning, (more) successful and supportive woman. Twenty One Pilots’ lead vocalist, Tyler Joseph, is certainly no exception. Since 2015, he has been married to Jenna Black (aka Jenna Joseph).
While Jenna appears to appreciate a healthy dose of privacy from the fame that comes with celebrity partnerships, the few details that are known about her make it clear that Tyler Joseph is one lucky man even outside of his career. 1. She was the inspiration behind “Tear In My Heart.”
It’s inevitable that one’s passion manifests in their art, and with his (at the time) new engagement, it isn’t surprising that Tyler Joseph would use his fiance for song inspiration.
According to Genius, the song centers around the importance of Joseph’s relationship with Jenna. Unlike every other song on Blurryface, “Tear In My Heart” does not reference the title character (Blurryface), who represents fear and negativity. Perhaps this implies a calming effect that Black has on her beau?
2. She has a serious sweet tooth.
While Jenna relishes a bit of privacy when she isn’t touring with Tyler, she doesn’t hold back when it comes to sharing her love of confections.
She mentions donuts and Oreo cookies in her social media posts quite a bit, and her current Twitter banner is full of cinnamon rolls. It gives fans a feel for her ability to be relatable and down-to-earth despite her natural beauty and enviable relationship.
3. They don’t have an interesting story of how they met.
While the two share an interesting and glamorous life touring together with no shortage of media attention, the story of how they met is surprisingly underwhelming.
Tyler himself told Rolling Stone that it “isn’t a great story or anything,” saying that Jenna was the sister-in-law of an acquaintance from his school in Ohio. While Jenna joins the duo on tour frequently, she and Tyler also now own a home in Columbus. Their wedding was modest and took place in their home state.
4. Jenna shows public support to Tyler with inspirational Instagram posts.
Following the release of the “Jumpsuit” video in July, Jenna thoughtfully posted on Instagram about her husband’s hard work and dedication to the album.
“He’s shown diligence, modesty and swag,” she said of his past year full of writing, recording and filming. “An album, a show, a story all from his pretty brain. I cannot tell you how many meetings we were late to because he’s in his studio completely lost in the music.”
She appreciates the passion that her husband shows for his work, and it shows. Her dedication and positivity have won many of his fans over.
5. She is altruistic outside of her marriage, too.
Part of what drew Tyler Joseph (and many others) to Jenna Black is her love of helping others.
Jenna is known for her involvement in volunteering and philanthropy. She is also active in her church, working with children and acting as a parishioner. She’s a shining star in her own family, posting slews of images of her parents, brother, nieces and nephews.
