People Who Love Shopping At Marshalls, Aldi & HomeGoods Usually Have 7 Distinct Personality Traits
Jasen Wright | Shutterstock I love a good trip to HomeGoods or Marshalls. Most of the thrill is walking down every aisle to see what you can score. Sometimes you end up going home empty-handed, but when you snag a designer item at a mind-blowing price, it's a real rush.
It seems like more and more people have the bug that makes them want to shop at these discounted stores. Their distinct personality traits make the experience more fun. From people who are especially financially savvy to those who have the patience to search through every shelf, these shoppers are dedicated to their craft.
People who can't get enough of discount shopping at stores like HomeGoods and Aldi usually share these personality traits:
1. They are financially savvy

We are living in a financially difficult time, psychologists say. The rise of debt, especially for those leaving college, is higher than we’ve seen before. This has caused people to make financial literacy their number 1 trait. If not, they would be drowning in an already complicated economy.
Even though we have to be cautious about spending money to stay afloat, we need to buy items. Stores like Marshalls and Aldi offer food, clothing, and household items at a discounted price. Financially savvy people know the importance of making their money go as far as possible, and buying essentials for as little as possible helps.
2. They are motivated
While I love shopping at these stores, sometimes I don’t have the motivation to go. It takes a lot of willpower to hunt for a deal, not knowing whether you’ll even find what you’re looking for. Often, what motivates these people is the thrill. They’re dedicated to finding things no matter how much work it takes.
There is serious science to back up these claims. Some psychologists have found that we get an unbelievable rush from shopping sales. When a store is filled with discounted items, it might have the same effect.
3. They are patient
Patience is a virtue that not everyone is born with. I know this trait completely missed me. Some people have no problem waiting for things. I’m the type of person who, when I want something, needs it as soon as possible. If someone is patient, they may be more likely to shop at stores that don’t guarantee they’ll have what they’re looking for.
I’ve noticed an uptick on social media in people posting items they saw at these stores, which is making them go viral. This leads to a chase that can have people visiting multiple locations in a day. Instead of giving up if they don’t find it on the first try, they have the patience to continue looking.
4. They are persistent

With the chase for viral items comes the need to be persistent. While some people may give up when they don’t find what they’re looking for, others will commit to finding it. When something goes viral, it becomes social currency. Persistent people may be willing to do anything for trendiest items. Whether it’s their desire to fit in or the dopamine rush they get from finding what they’re seeking, their persistence often pays off.
We all have a fear of missing out. Often, persistent people will go to great lengths to find a coveted item at one of these discount stores.
5. They are opportunistic
Some people see opportunistic behavior as a negative trait. Often, it’s associated with things like taking advantage of other people and doing whatever you can to put yourself on top. In the context of shopping, these individuals are opportunistic, buying something they don’t need because they think they are getting it for a good price.
There is science behind this. When people think they are getting a bargain, they may buy something just because of its price. Believe it or not, this can lead people to spend more money than they intended to.
6. They’re thrill-seekers
Shopping may not seem like a thrilling activity, but to some, it scratches an important itch. Endorphins are released when we are shopping. There’s excitement when we can find what we are looking for, especially if it comes at a bargain. Stores like Marshalls, Aldi, and HomeGoods can enhance these feelings because you might not know what you’ll find there.
I don’t know about you, but when I go into these stores, I usually leave with something I had no thought of buying before I went in. Whether it’s a cute mug or a piece of decor, it’s exciting to buy things, even if you don’t actually need them.
7. They are strategic

Some people treat a trip to these stores like they’re running a tight ship. They’re not there to walk around and end up with more things in their cart. Instead, they set their sights on something inexpensive and stick to it. It keeps them focused and enhances the shopping experience by giving them the thrill of finding an item without overspending.
This type of person is detail-oriented. They know what they want and need, and they’re able to find just what they’re looking for by shopping strategically.
