About Vaughn Roche

For more than 15 years in what is for me a second career, I have helped people from all walks of life find their way through stressful times. I have helped them repair relationships, restore faith in themselves in the midst of job and financial challenges, find strength and meaning in the face of serious illness, transform grief into spirituality and, above all else, learn to accept themselves. A therapist treats a wide variety of diagnoses — depression and anxiety key among them — but addresses an even greater variety of related life circumstances. Twenty years of looking at life through the privileged lens of my first career, journalism, helps greatly in understanding what my clients face in the world beyond my office. My clients have ranged from those in the professions — doctors, lawyers, financial managers, university professors — to people who thought they’d lost everything, including their will to go on. Every one of them is a unique and valuable human being, yet, as is so often the case, the stress of their lives left them uncertain of their worth and ability to resolve their problems.

My focus is to strengthen clients with new ways of thinking and to motivate them toward action so that they can live optimal lives in a world that is for all of us, at times, a stressful and disappointing place. To best serve my clients, I have rigorously pursued credentials, including training and certification by institutes founded by the most respected names in psychotherapy. You can learn more about that by going to the Academy of Cognitive Therapy website and the Albert Ellis Institute website. In addition, I have worked for three of Utah’s biggest healthcare providers, including the University of Utah and Huntsman Cancer Institute.
