About Sherry Amatenstein

Life is short and oh so precious and you deserve to spend it in a caring, supportive and fun relationship. That is where I can come in!

I am the author of The Q & A DATING BOOK: Answers to the thorniest, sexiest, and most intimate and revealing questions about love, sex, and romantic relationships; LOVE LESSONS FROM BAD BREAKUPS: Discover how to make relationships last - by learning from the ones that didn't; and THE COMPLETE MARRIAGE COUNSELOR: Relationship Saving Advice from America’s Top 50+ Couples Therapists.

I am a staff therapist at Washington Square Institute in NYC, run relationship seminars around the country and work in person and on the phone with singles and couples. I write relationship columns for ivillage.com and more.com, and am frequently called upon to give love advice on many national radio and TV programs including the Today Show, Early Show, Inside Edition, GMA Live, CBS News, VH1, BBC, and Good Day New York. My website is http://www.marriedfaq.com

In my practice, I use a combination of approaches – i.e.: psychodynamic, spiritual, cognitive – to help my patients stop getting in their own way and lead happier, more productive, loved-filled lives. I give homework assignments and work hard to help patients overcome the "I am victim" mindset. My philosophy for couples is “empathy versus anger works miracles.”

I specialize in individuals and couples work. I work with clients in person and over the telephone.
