Harville Hendrix, PhD, and Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD, are co-creators of Imago Relationship Therapy.
Harville is a couples therapist with over 40 years of experience as a counselor, educator, clinical trainer, author, public lecturer who has received many awards for his work with couples.
Referred to by Oprah Winfrey as the “Marriage Whisperer,” Harville has been featured on her show 18 times, winning Oprah her first Emmy for "most socially redemptive" daytime talk show. He was included by Ms. Winfrey in her top twenty shows.
Harville has also been featured on many other television talk shows and in countless magazine and newspaper articles worldwide, and is a dynamic and sought after lecturer.
Along with books she co-authored with Harville, Helen is the author of Faith and Feminism: A Holy Alliance, which explores the vibrant synergy between feminism and progressive faith traditions. She has been featured in international media outlets including ABC News, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Barron’s, Forbes, Town & Country, and The Huffington Post.
Honored as an inductee in the National Women’s Hall of Fame, Helen co-founded Women Moving Millions, a global campaign to raise the bar on women’s funding for women. Instrumental in launching a number of women’s funding institutions, including the Dallas Women’s Foundation, the New York Women’s Foundation and the Women’s Funding Network, Helen is also founder and president of The Sister Fund, a private women’s fund dedicated to the social, political, economic, and spiritual empowerment of women and girls.
Imago Relationship Therapy for couples is now practiced by over 2,200 certified therapists in 30 countries. This global network of Imago therapists is overseen by Imago Relationships International, where Harville is a leading voice on the board and within the international faculty. He and Helen have authored ten books on intimate relationships and parenting, including Harville’s New York Times bestseller Getting the Love You Want, which has sold over two million copies and been published into 50 languages.
Married since 1982, Harville and Helen have 6 children and 5 grandchildren and live in New York City.
