Most of Sierra Gates' storylines have revolved around her relationship with her husband, Shooter Gates. But it was recently revealed that she was accused of allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman. Although only a few details about the attack have emerged thus far, fans are wondering what could possibly happen next.
So, who is Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star Sierra Gates, and what do we know about her alleged attack on a pregnant woman? Let's take a look at what we know.
1. Who is Sierra Gates? She's a makeup artist and entrepreneur.
Billing herself as the CEO of The Glam Shop — which is based in Atlanta — Gates is a full-fledged entrepreneur and makeup artist. The salon offers a variety of services, including hair and makeup, microblading, and even classes where you can learn how to be a microblader and makeup artist from Gates herself.
2. She may have been promoted to a full-fledged cast member.
When the trailer for the eighth season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta dropped, fans of the show noted that Gates was featured more in the trailer than had been there before. This, of course, led to speculation she was promoted to a full-fledged cast member, rather than a recurring member. However, neither she nor VH1 has released a comment about it. 3. Her daughter was attacked by another student's parent while she was in school.
Gates's daughter used to attend North Atlanta High School. Unfortunately, she left after a woman named Treon Pounder and her daughter, who was Gates's daughter's classmate, "jumped" (attacked) Gates' daughter. Pounder was ultimately slapped with three misdemeanor assault charges, for which she ultimately had to turn herself in to authorities. Pounder was ultimately charged with battery, disrupting public school and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
4. Gates pulled her daughter out of public school and enrolled her in private school after the attack.
When the attack on her daughter happened, Gates immediately pulled her out of public school and enrolled her in private school. "This has been one of the most trying and challenging time of my life, especially as a mother. To hear your child literally screaming on the phone that a grown woman is trying to attack her is the worst feeling in the world. Especially knowing that’s it’s happening at school, a place where she is supposed to feel safe. Something like this should have never ever happened! The old me would have taken it to the street but I know that will only escalate the situation. We are moving forward with taking legal action and will be pressing charges because there needs to be justice for my daughter, it hurts my heart knowing there’s nothing that I can say to her, buy her, or do for her that will truly change how this experience has forever affected her," she said in a statement.
5. She allegedly attacked a pregnant woman.
Gates allegedly attacked a pregnant woman back in 2017 but she wasn't charged for her role in the incident until last summer. Because of the delay in prosecution, the court documents around the alleged assault were only released a few days ago, which is why the 2017 incident is in the news again. If she's convicted of the charges, she faces up to five years in prison.
6. Gates has not released a comment about the alleged incident.
As of this writing, neither Gates nor her attorneys have released a statement about the alleged incident. However, we will keep you posted on any developments that happen with regard to the case, and if the case is addressed by either party.
