Hip hop can be a very dangerous place, and sometimes, unnecessarily so. That's what happened to this Chicago rapper, who was shot and left in critical condition after a car chase in a fancy suburb of Chicago called Country Club Hills. Who is Lil Reese?

Born Tavares Taylor in Chicago, IL, the rapper who would become known as Lil Reese emerged from the Chicago drill scene alongside the likes of Fredo Santana and Chief Keef. He was featured on the latter's hit song, "I Don't Like," and that propelled his career to the top of the rap game in the early part of the 2010s. To date, he's released six mixtapes, two collaborative mixtape, and countless singles.

But let's look at what else we know about Lil Reese, and the potentially deadly shooting he just suffered through.

1. He was arrested for burglary.

According to HipHopDX, Lil Reese is someone who has had more than a few issues with the law. In May of 2010, he was found sleeping in his car, and upon running his information, officers arrested him on an outstanding warrant for burglary. He ultimately pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two years of probation.

2. Lil Reese has been accused of domestic violence.

Back in 2012, according to The Chicago Tribune, Lil Reese was caught on camera assaulting his girlfriend. (The video was really disturbing to watch, and featured him slapping her so hard she fell to the ground.) Just two days after the video was released, Lil Reese was arrested on yet another outstanding warrant, this time for "mob ties." But he was never arrested for assaulting his girlfriend, so kudos to the Chicago police for really looking out for the women in the city. (That's sarcasm.)

3. He has other criminal charges too.

According to two separate reports for HipHopDX, Lil Reese has been arrested for both car theft and marijuana possession (the latter being a violation of his probation). Though the car theft charge was eventually dropped after he was able to prove he owned the car, the case of VOP (violation of probation) is still pending.
