Instagram Demi Burnett posted a photo holding hands with Nick at a Halloween party and the internet went nuts. Fans jumped to the conclusion that the two Bachelor Nation alums must be dating because, on the internet, men and women can't simply be friends. At 24, Demi, who was most recently engaged to Kristian Hagerty, may be a bit young for 39-year-old Nick. The two are all over each other's social media accounts and clearly enjoy spending time together. Hannah Brown, the most recent Bachelorette and current contestant on Dancing With The Stars, has weighed in on the rumors about Nick and Demi. The Alabama native talked about her friends in an interview with Life & Style. She said: "Oh, no. They were just having a good time. They’re really good friends. They’re like besties. Well, she’s my bestie. We’re besties first and then Nick is her other best friend.” Are Nick Viall and Demi Burnett dating? What we know so far:
1. Demi and Kristian just broke up
Rumors of Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty's breakup circulated for weeks before the couple officially announced their split on Halloween. They both shared the exact same Instagram post and captioned it: “What has always been at the forefront of our relationship is love and care for one another. Our priority is doing what is best for us. With a heavy heart full of love for one another we have decided it is best for us to take a step back from our relationship. We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually."
2. Rumors about Demi and Nick started immediately
The keyboard had barely cooled down from Demi's breakup announcement when rumors about her and Nick started. It all started on Reddit, when a user posted about a party their friend was at that Nick and Demi were also at. The post said: "My friend was at a Halloween party with Rayne Ivanushka last night. He said he saw Nick holding hands with someone Demi’s height and a similar backpack like her and walks like her lol. Told me that the “girl in the costume” was tryna to be low-key all night, but he did finally get a good look at her and CLAIMS it’s her. I didn’t believe it so much but I decided to check Rayne’s IG and well … u be the judge."
3. Demi's Instagram all but confirmed the Reddit thread
Demi posted a photo of herself on her Instagram in a pink Care Bear costume that looked a lot like the costume worn by the woman in a video on the Reddit thread. This was all Bachelor in Paradise fans needed to make the assumption that Nick and Demi were an item. Comments on that post said: "So that was you holding hands with Nick on Halloween" and "Yep she just admitted to it."
4. They're besties
Like Hannah Brown said, Nick and Demi are besties. In an Instagram post on September 28th, Demi Burnett posted a photo of her with Nick and captioned it: "My dearest friend Nick. Happy birthday old man. You’ve quickly become a very close friend to me, and a very strong ally. I’m so proud to know you on the level that I do. You’re loyal, caring, handsome, smart — I could go on and on about how wonderful you are. Take it all in because I am only being this nice to you today since it’s your birthday. Love you big."
5. Nick's take on the Bachelor Nation drama
It's pretty amazing how there hasn't been a Bachelor, Bachelorette, or Bachelor In Paradise episode in weeks and yet the alumni churn out drama day after day after day. It's part of why we love the franchise — and also what makes it successful. On Rachel Lindsay's podcast Bachelor Happy Hour Viall said: "I feel like there’s a civil war brewing amongst Bachelor Nation cast. It’s all social media’s fault. It’s like high school. Everyone’s pretending to be friends, everyone’s just going after the same FabFitFun deals.” Nick explained that the start of all the social media hype was during Kaitlynn Bristowe's season of The Bachelorette in 2015. It allegedly got worse with JoJo Fletcher in 2016 and then it was a total mess with the casts of Colton Underwood and Hannah Brown's seasons.
6. Let's Trust Hannah on this one
Bachelor in Paradise fans are all in on the Nick and Demi idea, really shipping the two. However, Hannah Brown, Demi's other bestie, is likely to be the best source on this and she said they're just really good friends.
