Have you tuned in to HBO's Euphoria yet? It's pretty addictive! With Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie in the cast... wait Alexa Demie? Who's that? She plays Maddy on the racy teen drama and we're not the only ones who cannot get enough of her. She's managed to charm her way into our hearts and that left us wondering where we've seen her before. I mean, she does look pretty familiar. Besides playing Maddy Perez, Nate's on-again off-again girlfriend, what has she done? Who plays Maddy on Euphoria?
1. She's been acting since 2015
Alexa Demie was born on December 11, 1994 in Los Angeles. She's been writing songs and poetry since she was 12. She had her first acting gig in 2015. She appeared in small roles on Netflix's The OA and in Showtime's Ray Donovan. She also appeared in 2018's Mid90s, a coming-of-age film which was written and directed by Jonah Hill. She's also set to star in the upcoming films Nineteen on Fire, Mainstream and Waves.
2. She's a singer and designer
Alexa Demie released her first single "Girl Like Me" in 2017. She has also directed music videos, made costumes for Nicki Minaj and has her own line of sunglasses that were featured in Vogue Korea. Her sunglasses line had Japanese backers and were worn by Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj and Amber Rose. In fact, before she started booking acting roles, Alexa was on her way to fashion design school in New York City. We can see why!
3. She calls her Euphoria character "The female Patrick Bateman"
In a November 2018 interview in V Magazine, Demie described Maddy as: "the female Patrick Bateman, minus the killing. It's the craziest sh*t I’ve ever read in my life. I can't say much, because people are trying to hack into all our emails to get the scripts. But the music is incredible and the visuals will be stunning."
4. Maddy is not at all like Alexa
In an interview with W Magazine, Alexa said that Maddy isn't at all like her in real life, proving that this young lady has some real acting chops! She said: "Maddy pulls me out of my comfort zone. Even the way I dress, I don’t really wear skirts — I’m more tomboy. She wears whatever the hell she wants, and I love that. I got to explore this other side. But with all the sex and volatile relationships, that's so not me, and that was one of the hardest parts, to be vulnerable in that way. Even with the nudity — I don’t know if you’ve seen my Instagram, but it’s mostly portrait shots. I don’t post bikini pictures. I’m just not that way. I don’t judge anyone that is — sometimes I wish I was more free in that way — but it was a challenge.
