pexels Let's get one thing straight: Everyone needs attention. We are living things after all, and if you've ever forgotten to water your plants for an entire year, you know what happens when something (or someone) is neglected.

You might not like being the center of attention – and you might not be an attention seeker – but we ALL need attention in some form or another. Attention is when people think about you. Some of us like giving it more, while others like receiving it more, but either way, attention makes us feel like we belong in the world.
You know the warm fuzzies you get when a friend tells you that they were thinking about you? Yeah, that's a type of attention. So is the kind of attention that makes you feel totally loved. Like when your phone blows up with texts on your birthday.
While being the center of attention is not something we need to survive, a sense of belonging is in fact necessary to life as human beings. When you don't feel like you belong somewhere, it can really bring your self-esteem down.
Have you ever been a part of a friend group but have also known that if you just kind of left that you wouldn't be missed? No one likes to feel lonely, but unfortunately it happens to us all the time. Finding your place in the world takes time, but it's worth it to know that where you are is exactly where you're meant to be.
For some zodiac signs, they believe that simply belonging somewhere isn't enough. They would much rather be the center of attention because the spotlight feels so much more comfortable to them. For others, just the happiness of being given the right amount of attention – not too much, mind you – is enough to make them feel loved and welcome.
Really, though, is it so wrong for these few zodiac signs who are already desperate for attention to ask for more? Well, yes and no. No, because we do deserve attention – it's vital, remember? But it can also be unnecessary to ask for more attention than we need because attention isn't always something we can give ourselves.
Like respect and friendship, attention is a two-way street. The amount of attention you want from someone should be equal to the amount you give back to that person. When we demand too much attention, we are basically telling people that their only purpose is to make us feel better about ourselves.

ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
Aries demands attention because she feels like she deserves it. She likes to think she doesn’t actively seek out attention, but we can all agree that she is definitely the center of everything that goes on ALL. THE. TIME. We get it girl, you like attention.
While Aries is known for being very self-confident and independent, she just likes knowing that people dote on her (even if she’s the one asking for the doting). Aries is bossy by nature and is not above getting cranky when she doesn’t have all attention on her. That’s what you expect from the baby of the zodiac!
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
Gemini likes attention because she feels like she just has so much to give to her fans. Why wouldn’t anyone want to circle up and hear what Gemini has to say, amirite?! She might not get cranky like some zodiac signs who need attention, but she certainly won’t stand for anyone ignoring her, either.
The way Gemini gets people to give her more and more attention is by giving them what they want: someone to talk to, gossip with, and look up to. Her dual personality makes it easy to turn into anyone you could possibly want in your life, which means that there’s no reason to go give your attention to anyone else but her.
CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
Cancer loves knowing that the people in her life – her inner circle, if you will – is not going anywhere anytime soon. She is often desperate for attention when it feels like things are changing or when people are starting to rely less on her and more on themselves.
Truth be told, Cancer is pretty insecure. She needs constant attention and validation so that she knows that she’s not going to be abandoned by the people she loves. Even when she knows in the back of her mind that won’t happen, the constant attention is enough to make her feel extra sure.
LEO (July 23 - August 22)
The best power couple of the zodiac is certainly Leo and the spotlight. You won’t often find one without the other, and that’s just how Leo likes things. Sure, Leo can be pretty confident with herself, but even the most self-assured people like attention every now and then, right? Right!
For Leo, the whole world is a stage, and she is the famous actress that is beloved across the land. No matter what kind of relationship you have with her, you can always guarantee that Leo will make sure you give her adequate attention, just like a plant needs adequate water and nutrients, to stay alive.
