5 Details About The Nene Leakes, Kandi Burruss And Porsha Williams Feud On RHOA
A word to the wise: don't mess with Nene Leakes's closet.
Instagram Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members Nene Leakes, Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams got into a major scuffle on Sunday night’s episode — and Nene is still bitter.
Nene felt her personal space was violated by the two women … as well as a crew member.
It all happened at an event Nene hosted at her house. The “Bye Wig” party’s theme meant her castmates had to attend with their natural hair. Wigs, extensions or weaves were left off the guest list. She threw the party during a time of high stress: her husband Gregg Leakes had gone back to the hospital the day before for a blood clot in his leg. The clot came from cancer-related surgery.
Nene was not the biggest fans of Kandi or Porsha at the party — nor afterward, it seems, as she was on Watch What Happens Live after the episode aired.
What happened Sunday night? Here are the details about the Nene Leakes, Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams feud on RHOA and near-brawl that broke out on Sunday’s episode.
1. Nene’s anger extended beyond her castmates.
Kandi and Porsha weren’t the only ones encroaching on Nene’s personal space. A cameraman tried to follow the two to check out her famed closet to let viewers see the secret area as well. As each woman got up to go to the closet, Nene became more and more agitated.
“Y’all gonna make me get to fighting,” Nene said as her closet is raided. Eventually, a cameraman makes his way from behind the scenes to sneak a peek. However, he never made it into Nene’s closet. As he approached the entryway, Nene leaped out of her seat on the couch and jogged towards him in her dress. She grabbed a hold of his black t-shirt and began to pull him back—but tore the shirt in the process.
“Get the f--k out my closet, b---h,” Nene is heard saying as the camera fades in and out to reflect the chaos.
Someone else yells, “She’s pregnant!” likely in reference to Porsha. Rumor had it that Bravo had fined her for “getting physical with a cameraman” — Nene addressed the gossip head-on while on Watch What Happens Live.
“Somebody told me that I was suspended and I was fined $250,000. Now if you could tell me why, I would like to know,” she said. “I’ve never been suspended and I’ve never been fined. And I’m sitting in the clubhouse with the boss man Andy Cohen.”
2. She felt disrespected.
Nene tried to defend her actions with “the boss man.” She did not think she had overreacted in the slightest.
“How are you gonna overreact in your own home?” she asked. “If I tell you to visit me and ‘sit right there,’ you need to sit right there. You don’t have the right to go through my house and open up my doors and go through my closets, my pantries, none of that. You would feel disrespected.”
In the episode, Nene did not give Kandi permission to go in. When Kandi asked, “Can I see your closet now?” Nene replied quite plainly, “Oh hell no! My closet is not together.” When Porsha got up to take a look, Nene became agitated. “Porsha, don’t go in my closet,” she said. Then she asked Cynthia to go get them out.
“All y’all trying to be nosy,” Nene said.
Later, during the live episode with Andy, Nene said, “I don’t even know why I have to explain anything in my house. If I tell you that you can’t go in my closet, you can’t go in my closet.”
3. Nene thinks Kandi and Porsha have a pattern of disrespect.
“And the one thing these girls have, they are disrespecting each other’s homes when they visit them,” Nene said of the two on Watch What Happens Live. “Sheree [Whitfield]’s house was disrespected, Kenya [Moore]’s house was disrespected.
“When you come to my house, you’re not going to disrespect my home,” Nene continued. “So they were not in the right. First of all, they weren’t even invited upstairs; they just came up on their own.”
4. Fans disagreed with Nene.
Watch What Happens Live held a poll during the episode to gauge fans’ reactions to Nene — was she overreacting? An overwhelming 82 percent of people who responded to the poll thought that she did.
Nene was not a fan of her fans’ response.
“I don’t give a damn about this poll,” she said when the results came out. “How are you gonna be on their side? They didn’t have the right to walk in my house and do whatever they wanted to do. So f*ck your poll.”
In the meantime, Kandi won the poll for best natural hair.
5. Nene never gave an explicit reason why she didn’t want them in her closet.
She said repeatedly in the episode that her closet was “not together,” and a “mess.” Nene did not elaborate during the episode, nor afterwards on the live episode with Andy while discussing the incident.
She didn't give the crew permission, either.
