A college student in England has been missing since Thursday, and police are looking into reports about a "blood-curdling" scream that was heard nearby the area she was last seen.
Libby Squire, a 21-year-old University of Hull student, was dropped off by a taxi near her home around 11:29 p.m. on Thursday. About 10 minutes later, she was seen on a surveillance camera on a bench where a driver stopped to offer her help.
Squire is believed to had remained around that area until 12:09 a.m. on Friday. She has not been seen since.
Even more unsettling, a woman who lives within close proximity to Squires' home reportedly heard a scream around 12:30 a.m. that "sounded like someone being attacked."
“It was blood-curdling,” she told The Sun. “It was just one female scream. I was in bed reading and it made me sit up and go, ‘Oh my God.’”
After the scream, the neighbor (who is not being named) said she heard other voices "muttering" along with more screams before the sound of a wooden door or gate slamming shut. Police confirmed that they were looking into the neighbor's report, as well as other witness reports.
“We have received hundreds of calls from members of the public offering information and their assistance, and we are extremely grateful for everyone's help," said a spokeswoman for the police. "Our house-to-house inquiries are continuing and we are visiting residents to speak to people and take statements as part of the ongoing investigation."
Police officers were seen searching a pond near her home on Tuesday and revealed that they found her phone at her home. However, it did not reveal any clues about where she is. According to The Sun, they also found a screwdriver, a claw hammer and lip gloss about 40 yards from where she was last seen, but they were ruled out to have anything to do with her disappearance.
They don't believe she ever went into her house. The motorist who stopped to help Squires has already been in contact with police and had "really helped out" with the search.
Libby Squire is 5ft, 7in tall and has long dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, black long-sleeved top and a black denim skirt with lace.
