1. He founded Blum Capital in 1975 

Blum, 83, is a fixture in the investment banking world. He founded Blum Capital, a private equity firm headquartered in San Francisco, back in 1975. The firm boasts an impressive portfolio, investing in a wide variety of companies spanning everything from retail and media to healthcare and financial services. Blum is still the acting chairman of the firm. 

2. He is Feinstein's third husband 

Senator Feinstein has been married twice before. She was first married in 1956 to Jack Berman, who she divorced three years later. Prior to his death in 2002, the two shared Feinstein's only child, daughter Katherine Feinstein Mariano, born in 1957. Feinstein remarried in 1962, wedding neurosurgeon Bertram Feinstein. They were married until his death in 1978. Blum and Feinstein have been married since 1980. 

3. They met through politics in 1977 

Although Blum is not a politician himself, his position as an adviser to San Francisco Mayor George Moscone put him in the same political sphere as his future wife. They met when Feinstein was serving as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

4. He's the former First Gentleman of San Francisco 

Senator Feinstein served as the 38th Mayor of San Francisco for ten years from 1978 to 1988, making husband Blum the city's First Gentleman during her time in office. 

5. He's a billionaire

Blum is one of the wealthiest senate spouses, with an estimated net worth of around $1 billion. The couple's financial holdings also makes Feinstein one of the wealthiest serving senators. Talk about a power couple.

6. The couple were the subject of a conflict of interest controversy in the 90s

Feinstein was scrutinized due to Blum's extensive investment dealings in China, which critics argued could represent a potential conflict of interest with the senator's voting and policy practices. Feinstein has denied the accusations.
