PSA: it's not anonymous.

Instagram rolled out a new feature where users can pose others to ask them a question on via their Instagram Story and the internet does not know how to feel about it.
Actually, let me rephrase that. The internet knows exactly how to feel about it — you either love it or hate it. There is no in between.
I'm on the ladder side of the poll and I've basically stopped watching any stories on Insta to avoid seeing the same thing over and over. But many users are enjoying their followers' inquiries and posting the question they receive on their stories as well as their answers.
So what is the "ask me a question" thing on Instagram, and is it anonymous?
This whole scenario sounds all too familiar. Remember when everyone was fishing for responses on Facebook with the "TBH" movement?
"Tbh I've always thought you were funny!" "Tbh you're pretty."
Oh, middle school.
Anyway, this is very similar to AskFM and Sarahah, where users ask a question while retaining anonymity.
But this Instagram feature is not anonymous. I repeat, it is NOT anonymous. Anyone you decide to ask a question is able to see who sent it. Don't go asking people something embarrassing or rude. You've been warned.
Whether you are on board with the "ask me a question" feature or not, it looks like it's here for good, or at least until people run out of questions.

As with every other update, new feature or news, people have taken sides and feel very strongly about their opinion. Not surprisingly, hilarious memes and tweets have popped up everywhere and I can't even.
I've collected the best memes and tweets about the Insta trend for your viewing pleasure.
