Is Postpartum Depression Ruining Your Marriage?

For most women, having a baby is one of the greatest joys of life. For others, childbirth can lead to feelings of serious sadness and withdrawal, otherwise known as postpartum depression.

In this video, hypnotherapist, psychologist and YourTango Expert Dr. Shoshana Bennett answers the follwing viewer question: Yesterday, my husband told me to "snap out" of the bad mood I've been in since our son was born. That feels like the last straw for me. I want to end our marriage because he's so insensitive to my postpartum depression. Am I overreacting?

"We can't snap out of a postpartum depression any more than we could snap out of the flu," says Dr. Shosh, "First, have you been diagnosed? Are you getting proper help? Make sure you're working with a therapist who specializes in postpartum depression."
