Forget the bar, gym and awkward set-up—when it comes to finding a potential mate, the Internet is by far the hottest spot. But with hundreds of online dating sites and more than 40 million visitors on a regular basis, how do you know where to start? The first big step to finding online dating success is picking a site that's right for you. Like shopping for the perfect pair of jeans, there are always certain brands that are a better fit than others. Some sites are more suited for those looking for casual relationships while others may be for the more marriage-minded. To help you find your "perfect match" in an online dating site, iMag went to love experts Sherri Langburt of Singleediton.com and Diana Falzone for tips to finding love at the click of a mouse. For Singles Who Want a lot of Options: Match.com

Cost: Free to browse, search and post a profile. However, to message you must subscribe. A one-month membership is $29.99.

The Rundown: Featuring a wide range of adult singles of all ages across the globe, this site is the most popular and highly trafficked matchmaking site out there. Each user creates a profile and selects their preferences for matches. Then all communication is done through a private email network. The only downside to this site is that one could get easily overwhelmed by the large amount of users.

Why it Works: This site "allows users to swim in a giant dating pool so it's hard to run out of options. And because of the sites broad appeal, there is more than one someone for everyone, no matter what your preferences or quirks," says Langburt. "It's also a great site for looking for all kinds of relationships i.e. companionship, flirtation, casual dating and marriage. It allows you to choose what you are looking for," says Falzone.

For the Marriage-Minded Single: eHarmony.com

Cost: $59.95 for one month, $39.95 per month for three months, $19.95 per month for a full year

The Rundown: "This service is designed specifically for people who are looking for serious relationships. Unlike other sites, eHarmony relies on compatibility matchmaking and pairs people based on results gathered from a detailed questionnaire members must fill out upon joining the site," says Langburt. The only fallback is that joining this site is a bit on the pricier side, but for those looking to get serious the money may be worth it.
