When she was about eight, Carin-Isabel Knoop’s daughter quipped, “My mom writes stuff nobody wants to read.” But after three decades at Harvard Business School—where Knoop leads the Case Research & Writing Group, contributing to over 2,000 global case studies—she remains undeterred, not just about writing but also about making workplaces better. She co-authored Compassionate Management of Mental Health in the Modern Workplace (Springer) and has written nearly 200 cases and over 100 articles. Born in Mexico and raised across Asia, Africa, and Europe, Knoop brings a global lens and contrarian streak to everything she does.
