People with high emotional intelligence can recognize what's going on inside of themselves and communicate it reasonably well to others. They also understand that other people have emotions, too.

When a man lacks those skills, everyday frustrations can reach a boiling point really quickly. Instead of trying to figure out his role in a difficult situation, he may blame the people or circumstances around him. It might seem harmless at first, but when he starts complaining about the same things on a constant basis, it frustrates pretty much everyone in his life even more, including himself.

Men with pretty much no emotional intelligence tend to complain about these specific things all the time:

1. 'People are too sensitive these days'

Men who lack emotional maturity tend to dismiss other people's reactions without stopping to consider why they feel that way. They decide that someone else is the problem instead of asking whether a comment was hurtful or inappropriate. When they cross a line, their first instinct is often to complain about how everyone is offended by everything.

There's also a convenient escape hatch here. They never have to take responsibility. Calling other people too sensitive lets them frame themselves as the reasonable one. They may genuinely believe they're being honest or just joking around, but emotional awareness includes understanding that intent isn't the only thing that matters.

2. 'Nobody appreciates what I do'

This complaint often points to something deeper than a simple request for recognition. Men with very low emotional intelligence may keep score of everything they do for other people while rarely noticing what's happening around them. They might fix something small or handle a basic errand and immediately expect everyone to recognize the sacrifice.

Unfortunately, that appreciation becomes a kind of unspoken transaction. If others don't respond exactly the way they want them to, they feel overlooked and start listing everything they've ever done for them. Rather than directly communicating that they want acknowledgment, their disappointment becomes a running complaint about how nobody notices them.

3. 'Why do I always have to explain myself?'

If a man who isn't emotionally perceptive asks why he always has to explain himself, he is revealing a deep frustration with being held accountable for how his words or actions affect other people. He doesn't see clarification as a healthy part of communication, so he views every question as an accusation.

These types of men expect other people to be able to understand their intentions without having to put them into words. In their mind, their reasoning should be obvious, and having to explain it feels like an unnecessary burden.

4. 'Nobody knows how to communicate anymore'

This complaint may sound somewhat reasonable, especially when conversations go badly, but it's also a convenient way for men who haven't developed strong emotional skills to avoid examining their own role in the situation. They may say that other people are being confusing or impossible to talk to while overlooking the fact that he shuts down or gets defensive frequently.

They may think others should communicate all the time perfectly while giving themselves no room to improve. A partner asking for reassurance is seen as starting an argument, and a coworker offering helpful feedback is seen as difficult. They treat every uncomfortable interaction as evidence that everyone else is lacking.

5. 'Everyone expects too much from me'

This is a familiar statement when a man feels overwhelmed by ordinary responsibilities or uncomfortable with other people's needs. He can't separate reasonable expectations from unrealistic ones, so he lumps everything together and acts as though he can't show up and follow through.

He may also have a hard time recognizing that good relationships require some give-and-take. A partner or close friend wanting more quality time feels like excessive pressure. He turns frustration into a blanket statement instead of talking honestly about what he can really handle.

6. 'People take everything the wrong way'

When a man's intentions don't match the impact of his words, he relies on this excuse to make it seem like he's not the problem. Rather than becoming curious about why the other person reacted the way they did, he immediately decides they just misunderstood him, so he's not in the wrong.

This attitude makes the simplest disagreements feel frustrating. He becomes more focused on proving that he didn't mean it that way than on showing people that their perspectives and emotions are important to him.

7. 'I'm always the one apologizing'

Men use this complaint when they are emotionally out of touch. They can't see the difference between being held accountable and being blamed. They may focus so heavily on how often they have to say sorry that they never consider what causes the same conflicts in the first place.

When several people are asking these types of men to acknowledge their bad behavior, they may interpret it as a pattern of everyone ganging up on them. Eventually, they'll throw out a resentful apology just to end the conversation.

8. 'Why can't people just let things go?'

Men who don't want to deal with the consequences of a situation they caused often bring up this complaint. They assume that once they move on, everyone else should be ready to do the same. If someone is still bothered by something they said, they see the continued concern as unnecessary.

There's a big difference between dwelling on the past and wanting to actually resolve something. Sometimes, people keep bringing up an issue because they never felt heard, received a meaningful apology, or saw any change. It may make the conversation disappear for a bit, but the underlying problem doesn't usually go with it.
