Amanda Knox made worldwide headlines in 2007 when she was accused of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy. She was a 20-year-old student at the University of Washington studying abroad in the central Italian town of Perugia when she and her then 21-year-old boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were accused of the crime. Knox spent four years in prison in Italy during the prosecution of the crime. In 2015, her sentence was reversed by Italy's highest court. She was finally allowed to leave Italy and return to the United States. Now, Amanda Knox is newly married, begging the question: who is Amanda Knox's husband, Christopher Robinson?

1. Who is Amanda Knox's husband, Christopher Robinson? He's an author.

Amanda Knox's husband Christopher Robinson is a Seattle-based author. He's 36. He wrote the book War of the Encyclopaedists and publishes poetry. In a 2017 interview, Knox talked about the qualities she admired in Robinson, “I don’t want to get married for the sake of getting married. My hope is that I have a partner with whom I can continue to take on the world and I very much love Chris and feel like he is my partner and he would be a wonderful dad and we talk about it all the time."

2. How did they meet?

After Knox was exonerated, she returned to Seattle. She was actually in another relationship and engaged when she attended a book launch party for the War of the Encylopaedists in 2015. She had been hired to write a review of the book and needed to interview Robinson and his co-author. Robinson had no idea who she was. He told People, “I was probably the only person at the party who didn’t really know who she was. I knew Italy and some legal stuff and something that shouldn’t have happened. But I didn’t really know her story. Knox said that when they shook hands to say goodbye, he said "I think you’re someone I should be friends with.” That was an amazing moment for her because it was the first time since she'd been home that she met someone that didn't see her through the lens of the media frenzy that surrounded her time in Italy. A few months after their interview, Knox and Robinson started dating. They moved in together in 2016. They have three cats, Mr. Screams, Mr. Fats and Emil.

3. How did he propose?

When Knox and Robinson first met, they bonded over their mutual love of Star Trek. When Robinson proposed, he worked in their love of science fiction. He decorated their yard in blue and purple lights and placed a fake meteorite outside. Knox picked up the smoking object and read from what Robinson had written on an electronic display. Then Robinson got down on one knee and said: “I don’t have a ring, but I do have a big rock. Will you stay with me until the last star in the last galaxy burns out. And then even after that. Amanda Marie Knox, will you marry me?” Amanda said yes.

4. What was written on the rock?

It took Robinson more than a year to put the proposal together. The 'data crystal' inside the fake meteor read: "No other pre-singilarity union produced as much cerebral-empathic heat as the joining of Amanda Marie Knox and Christopher Gerald Robinson. 'Known in the parlance of the times as a "power couple", Knox and Robinson pursued diverse projects of grand ambition. Even as they pursued each other. For their love grew exponentially from their initial encounter when Knox reviewed Robinson's debut novel."

5. Where is Amanda Knox now?

Knox returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2011. She finished her college classes and started writing an arts column for a Seattle newspaper. The now 31-year-old has also been raising awareness about problems in the judicial system in the hopes that no one else has to go through what she did when she was wrongly convicted. She was a part of Amanda Knox, the 2016 Netflix documentary about her case that was nominated for two Emmy Awards.

She also hosted the VICE and Facebook show The Scarlett Letter Reports, in which she explored the issue of public shaming, something she experienced during the investigation and trial related to her case. She also hosted the Sundance/AMC show The Truth About Crime. By working with her experience to make a difference, Knox said she's been able to reclaim her life. She said, "Now I have normal-person fears — fears of failure, of not being smart enough or strong enough or kind enough. I was told that my best-case scenario would likely consist of writing my memoir and then disappearing. Whether I deserved it or not, there was nothing I could do but accept that the story of the girl accused of murdering her roommate would be the frame through which people viewed and consumed me, and through which I had to pass to live my life. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that things didn’t turn out that way.”

6. The couple allegedly got married in a space-themed wedding.

Because of their love of science fiction, their wedding was reportedly a space-themed/Star Wars bash in front of family and friends in Washington State. She and Robinson officially married in December 2018, and it seems like this was a second, more lavish and public affair.
