So Turns Out The #HoldACokeWithYourBoobsChallenge Was A Total SHAM

By now, you've probably noticed that the #HoldACokeWithYourBoobsChallenge has taken over your newsfeed. Men and women are taking topless pictures of themselves in a misguided effort to raise awareness for breast cancer.

But if you really think that holding a bottle with your boobs is supporting breast cancer in any way, shape or form, here's a hint. It doesn't. 

According to The Daily Mail, the trend was started as a joke by adult entertainment scout Danny Frost and glamour model Gemma Jaxx. 

Apparently, they were poking fun at similar social media challenges that attempt to raise awareness about serious issues in what appears to be an insensitive way to some, such as the ALS ice bucket challenge.

This is reminiscent of all of the backlash that the pinkwashing (companies mis-using the pink ribbon to sell pink products) movement has gotten.

The crazy thing about this is that the Breast Cancer Research Foundation said that this challenge doesn't even fund their research. Yet, for some reason, people are still taking to Instagram and Twitter to post these photos.

Listen: There's nothing funny or "sexy" about breast cancer. Honestly, it's disgusting that someone would even think of making fun of something so tragic that is a reality for nearly twelve percent of women in the US.
