Courteney Cox Is 'Into Looks' But Loves Wearing No Makeup

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox may love going makeup-free, but she's also not against a little professional touch-up here and there.

In the premiere issue of New You magazine, the 48-year-old Cougar Town star finally opens up about the longtime rumors that she's had plastic surgery to freshen up her face. "You know what, I'm game for anything," she tells the mag. "I'm very open to trying to prolong the inevitable. I'm a big laser believer—I really think they are the wave of the future. I just did Ulthera, which is supposed to produce collagen, and I'm about to do Fraxel, which will get rid of all these brown spots off my arms, chest and face."

We've been talking a lot this month about body image here on YourTango and can't help wondering: is it possible to be a fan of cosmetic procedues and still have a healthy self-image? Can the two exist simultaneously? Cox seems to think they can ... especially with the big 5-0 coming up for her in 2014.

"That's gonna be brutal," she admits about her upcoming birthday. "I'm not that interested in that! That sounds different. It feels different. I think it's hard, the fact that there's a certain age that we can't have kids anymore."

The pressures of Hollywood are hard enough as it is; imagine trying to maintain a healthy body image as you age in the spotlight. Cox actually attributes her aging concerns to her family relationships. "Beauty has always been a big part of my childhood and my life," she says. "My mother is a very beautiful woman and looks were really important to her. She's always been into vitamins and creams and she's never had any plastic surgery. She's just aged beautifully and naturally."

She adds, "My dad was into looks as well, so I grew up with a family that cared a lot about that. It's a little hard because you think Hollywood is tough — well, it was pretty tough in my own family!"

While she's finally owning up to her cosmetic procedures, Cox still claims to feel best after a workout "when I have no make-up on and my skin is flushed." Sounds like a healthy outlook to us.
