About Britt-Mari Sykes, PhD

Britt-Mari Sykes PhD is an integrative career counselor who supports, encourages and guides her clients to successfully navigate career and life transitions, build the foundations for meaningful and resilient careers, and discover positive and sustainable solutions to burnout. She works collaboratively with her clients, respecting their unique experiences and contexts, their personal resources, their innate capacities and skills, their hope and imagination and overall striving.

A comfortable hybrid of psychology and philosophy, Britt-Mari has an extensive background in existential and humanistic psychotherapy, counseling and teaching. She is the author of Questioning Psychological Health and Well-Being (2010), a historical and contemporary examination of the meaning of psychological health and development.  Britt-Mari is currently working on her second book: a collection of essays on our experiences of work and career from an existential analytic perspective.

Britt-Mari has guest-lectured extensively in classrooms and at conferences in Canada, the USA and Europe on meaningful and fulfilling living, creating vocation, understanding burnout, the history of existential psychology and the theory of Existential Analysis.  She has served on panels at international conferences on human development, ethics in everyday life and the value of work. Britt-Mari is based in Ottawa, Canada and works exclusively with clients online via Skype and Zoom both nationally and internationally.
