The Real Houswives of New York City just isn't going to be the same without Bethenny Frankel. On August 21, after 11 years on the Bravo show, Bethenny announced that she is leaving the Housewives to: "explore my next chapter." Since that announcement, the rumors have been flying as to what the real reason she's leaving is. Why is Bethenny Frankel leaving RHONY?
1. She's embarrassed about her meltdowns
A source revealed to InTouch that Bethenny Frankel is leaving the Real Houswives of New York after 11 seasons because she was embarrassed by her behavior last season. The source said: “Bethenny’s multiple meltdowns last season were not good for her brand, and not good for business,” a source told In Touch of her reason for the departure. “She’s embarrassed by her behavior. The show brought her fame and success, but she doesn’t need to be on a reality show anymore. She should be on Shark Tank, or something like that. Not fighting with catty Housewives.” For what it's worth, Bethenny's rep denied this is the case.
2. She's the only RHONY who's married
That's right! Married! Bethenny took to Twitter to say she left the show because she is the only RHONY that is married. She wrote: “To my NY hwives: GO GET EM!” she wrote. “I had to go since I’m the only one that is actually married…that’s how crazy this ride is. You are all amazing, beautiful and strong. Spread your wings and fly!” The 48-year-old then tagged Ramona Singer, Tinsley Mortimer, Sonja Morgan and Dorinda Medley — all of whom are currently single and appearing on the upcoming 12th season of Real Housewives of New York.
3. Who did she marry?
Bethenny has been involved in a serious relationship for the past year with Paul Bernon. He has never appeared on the show, which might be another clue as to why Bethenny decided to call it a day for her and RHONY.
4. Or is she referring to her ex?
Frankel and Bernon may not have married. Frankel could have been making a joke about her ex-husband Jason Hoppy. They separated in December 2012 and Frankel filed for divorce in Janaury 2013. It took years for them to reach both a financial settlement — that happened in July 2016. However, their divorce is still not final. The exes are battling over custody and decision-making power over theri daughter, Bryn. The couple currently shares custody and decision-making power. Frankel is seeking full custody and decision-making power.
5. Who is Paul Bernon?
Paul Bernon is a Boston-based real estate developer and film producer. Bethenny has been dating him since last fall. When she had to go to court against her ex in March, Beron attended all five of the court dates in support of Bethenny. In April, she told People: “I’m a lucky gal. It’s been good. Things between us are really nice.”
6. He saved her life during a life-threatening allergic reaction
Last December, Bethenny had a life-threatening allergic reaction to some fish soup at a Boston restaurant. She fell unconscious and her boyfriend Paul called 911. She credits him with saving her life.
