Traditionally, being high-maintenance has been relegated to women. However, being high-maintenance does not actually have to be appropriated to just women. In fact, men can also be guilty of being extremely high-maintenance in relationships. Consider how your guy reacts when things don’t go his way. Is he likely to sulk or push forward? If his reaction is the former, you may have found yourself in a relationship with a high-maintenance guy.

Here are some surefire signs that you are in a romantic relationship with a high-maintenance guy.

1. They have a meltdown when things don’t go their way

When it comes to guys, they are simple creatures who can often be quite childish in their behavior. In fact, when things don’t go their way, whether in a relationship or in their careers, the high-maintenance guy will be sure to let you know about his frustration.

As a result, expect a massive temper tantrum from your man when the ice cream shop runs out of his favorite flavor.

2. They can only eat expensive food

Another sign that you have a high-maintenance guy in your arms as if he only eats out at high-end restaurants and does his grocery shopping at expensive stores like Whole Foods. Craving black caviar and high-end liquor is the only way a high-maintenance guy knows how to show the world how successful he really is. The reality is, a high-maintenance guy is typically extremely insecure which results in his ostentatious behavior.

3. When you go away for the weekend, he spares no expense

Dating a high-maintenance guy can sometimes be a beautiful thing. In fact, vacations with a high-maintenance guy are usually quite luxurious and swanky!

There is absolutely no roughing it in Mother Nature when you date a high-maintenance guy. As a result, you end up reaping the spoils of his lavish needs when you are in a relationship.

4. He needs pampering on the regular

Typically, going to a salon or getting a pedicure is not something guys do. However, when it comes to a high-maintenance guy, they have a standing mani-pedi appointment. As a result, don’t ever be surprised if your man wants to join you for a couple’s massage while you are on vacation on the Italian Riviera.

5. A high-maintenance guy loves to take care of his body

Just like a high-maintenance female, a high-maintenance guy never skips a day at the gym. In fact, they are super strict regarding what they eat and how their body looks. As a result, the traditional high-maintenance guy is super fit and looks pretty damn good.

6. He’s a fashionista in his own right

Again, just like high-maintenance women, a high-maintenance guy can be found shopping on a Saturday afternoon with his girl. He will always have a crisp fitting outfit on no matter the occasion. In fact, if something doesn’t fit him right, he is surely going to get it altered as soon as possible. As a result, the high-maintenance guy is always aware of basic style rules for all kinds of events and is usually a great date for a formal event like your best friend’s wedding. Therefore, while it may be challenging to shop for a high-maintenance guy, they look super attractive and are perfect specimens for all our Instagram stories!

In the end, dating a high-maintenance guy comes with its benefits and drawbacks. However, if you can move past the annoying things that your guy does, and continue to love him anyway, you can have a super beautiful relationship. Not to mention, you can do a lot of things together which can help the two of you create a strong bond that ensures a lifetime of happiness together.
