Why You Should Watch Porn Before Going On A First Date, According To Science

By now we all know a little something about first dates and let's face it, no matter how many times we do them they're equally horrifying.

In the time leading up to it, you're constantly trying to figure out how to avoid awkwardness, what you can and can't discuss, and what to do on the off chance that you found yourself on a date with a complete nut.

Yeah, there's a lot that goes into the mental prep for a date — and that's without mentioning the physical preparations (hair, nails, etc.).

But after much research, the Interdisciplinary Center Herzilya in Israel found that by watching porn prior to dates you'd be more comfortable (read: likely) to open up allowing you to build relationships with strangers. 

The act is called "sexual priming," and it was found that “[this act] led participants to reveal personal intimate information to an opposite-sex stranger,” according to the study.

In the end “self-disclosure" created a greater "interest in having a first date with the stranger.” These findings come after observing 246 heterosexual participants in three completed studies.

Not into porn? That's cool too. It was found that even subliminal stimuli triggered the same reaction — priming participants for their new encounters. This led researchers to conclude “... that activation of the sexual system encourages the use of strategies that allow people to become closer to potential partners.”

Needless to say that for us single gals, this is certainly a new and exciting strategy to try out.

Hell, I've been single, been tortured by awkward conversations, and I do enjoy porn occasionally so from where I'm sitting I've got nothing to lose.

At this point, I'm just looking for a hand up in the dating game.
