Heartbreak is normal to feel, losing yourself is not.
I know we’ve all been through heartbreak, and whether it’s been rough or not, it's something that is bound to happen. We open and pour our hearts on to those who we think feel the same way ... only to find out later that they don't.
Heartbreak was in hiding. We just happened to never notice the warning signs. Sometimes, we can see it from afar, and sometimes we won’t know it’s coming.
It isn’t all that bad, though. Getting heartbroken could open doors that never had the possibility of opening, which is why it’s important to let the heartbroken people out there know that it’s OK to be hurting.
It’s okay to feel lost or confused. As long as you don’t lose yourself in the hands of pain, you WILL be OK.
If you really think about it, heartbreak is nothing more than a phase. It withers away within time. Being patient with your heart is the most gentle way to care for it.
I’ve learned that taking care of myself throughout a heartbreak period healed me in ways nothing or no one else could. Don’t be afraid to speak about the pain, because the more you shy away from social encounters, the more you shy away from yourself. Heartbreak is something everyone experiences, so you really aren't alone.
Read, write, paint, go for a bike ride, go out with your girlfriends, get your mind off of it completely. The more time invested in your pain, the more you’re going to endure it. No one knows yourself better than yourself, no one loves the way you love, no one hurts the way you hurt.
So if you're still hurting, here are 20 quotes to help you move past this and on to a better future, and to remind you that you WILL be OK once again.
