I'm not the kind of girl who doesn't like walking home alone at 2 AM. I'm not the kind of girl who hates waking up alone on a Saturday morning. I'm not the kind of girl who enjoys one-night stands. I'm not the kind of girl who likes late night "You up?" texts. I'm not that girl.
I'm the girl who wears jeans and a black shirt out, or a dress, or a sweatshirt. I'm the girl who brings cash and a card to the bar. I'm the girl who enjoys the walk home from the bar alone because it gives me time to reflect on the night. I love going to bed alone and I love waking up alone even more.
I'm the girl who doesn't fear being alone; I'm the girl who embraces it. I enjoy doing things on my own. I like being able to make my own decisions for what best suits me. I like being able to go with whatever sounds appealing to me. I like not worrying about pleasing another person. I like not worrying about compromising at this point in my life.
But when this point of my life starts to come to a close, I'm the girl who wants love. I'm the girl who wants the happily ever after. I'm the girl who will fall fast and hard. I'm the girl who will love you with every inch of her heart.
I'm the girl who wants to take adventures with you. I want to hike to the top of the mountain a take a stupidly cute picture with you; one that single people will cringe at. Pictures that I used to cringe at before I knew what loving you would be like.
I want to make it a point to go on date nights every week. I want to eat dinner with you on the floor, just because. I want to spend summer nights skinny-dipping with you in a lake.
I'm the kind of girl who wants to race you to the ice cream line and laugh with you when it starts to melt and run down your hand. I'm the kind of girl that wants to lay out at night and look at the stars with you, wrapped up in a blanket and just enjoy each other's company.
I want to take risks with you. I want to compile memories of you in my photo stream and in my mind. I want to be able to look back at those pictures in the future and remember exactly what I was feeling. I want to write about you and compile lists of things you do that make me fall in love with you again every day.
I want to book spontaneous trips across the world with you. I want to face my fears with you. I want to live a life of never ending adventures with you. I want to fish off a dock in the day with you and have a fire and camp in the Adirondacks at night with you. I want to find the dive bars in towns we've never heard of and tell our story to the bartender that's barely getting by.
I want to do that and so much more with you.
That is why right now I like waking up alone, without awkward encounters of people who could never make me happy. I like buying my own drinks. I like not owing anything to anyone. I like being in control of my own life and making all my own decisions.
I like not finding strangers to go home with to fulfill a temporary desire, because I know that will only leave me feeling empty. I like focusing my time and emotions into myself along with my friends and family, building those relationships up.
Because when the time comes, I'm the type of girl who will come into your life and turn it upside down in the most positive way possible, because I'm the type of girl that will love you entirely.
