Fancy restaurant meal? Meh. This Valentine's weekend, do what you really want to do.
It's Friday night, and nothing sounds better than cozying up together in bed with takeout, a beautiful bottle of wine and a full Netflix queue that's just calling your name. We know, we know. This Friday night happens to be Valentine's Day. But why should a snuggle-fest on February 14th be any less delicious? Rev up your TiVo Roamio Plus, because you're about to embark on a 72-hour TV fest. From political thrillers to rom-coms, this list has everything you and your cuddle buddy could want! Heaven, here you come.
1. House of Cards
This one is a no-brainer and Netflix has already made it an easy decision to make-- season two premieres on Valentine's Day! House of Cards is an addictive political thriller about congressman Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, and his aim to take down the political party that's undervalued him one too many times, with the help of reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara). Since it's Netflix's original series, you can watch the whole season as soon as it airs, so good luck trying to stop once you start.
2. New Girl
Jess has already been living with her favorite guys for a few seasons now, but that doesn't mean it's not too late to catch up (or rewatch again)! This is perfect for a V-Day binge watch, too. It's light, absolutely hilarious and surprisingly romantic! Definitely one of our favorite addictive sitcoms and since it's only half an hour, go ahead and get through the whole season while you're at it.
Okay, who isn't in love with Olivia Pope by now? She has awesome fashion sense, amazing wine glasses and the hottest political love affairs ever. It was created by Shonda Rhimes, of Grey's Anatomy fame, so of course it's going to have that drama you can't get enough of.
4. Mad Men
Something is super intriguing about watching a bunch of people in the 60's chain smoke. But all jokes aside, Mad Men is so well done and it's the writing that's going to keep you coming back for more. This show has some serious dedication to cultural accuracy, too. Hurry and catch up, before the new season starts!
5. The Following
Season two of The Following just started, so go ahead and binge-watch season one now! It's about a creepy cult leader and his followers committing murders while Kevin Bacon tries to catch them. More addictive that CSI, and way scarier! Snuggle close for this one.
6. Teen Wolf
We really can't resist any show that already has shirtlessness written into the plot! Even though this is based on a some-what cheesy 80's movie, Teen Wolf is worth binge-watching. It's a unique high school thriller that has it's really funny moments! And of course, plenty of romance to make your Valentine's marathon very well-rounded.
7. The Borgias
If you obsess over costume dramas, make sure you've seen The Borgias! Come for the gorgeous 16th century dresses, stay for the illicit love affairs and Roman Catholic scandal. It's based on the true story of Pope Alexander Sixtus and his family (Yes, the pope had a family!), and you'll hardly believe how shocking they were.
Dexter is a Netflix new addition, which means all the more reason to immediately hunker down and marathon the series! It's a crime drama with a twist-- the main character is a serial killer who kills other serial killers. Trust us, it's going to keep you on the edge of your seat ever single episode!
The original UK version, not the MTV one! Skins has a new cast every two seasons, so you're definitely never going to get bored. It's set at a UK high school and you'll get obsessed over the accents and outfits. There's so much heart-wrenching romance in this series too, you won't be able to not watch the next episode!
10. Arrested Development
Thank god Netflix gave this show another season, now there's more for you to binge on! Arrested Development is so cerebral and hilarious, it might take you a few watches to get some of the jokes. All the more reason to marathon the series! Don't let a single joke get past you this time. It'll be so rewarding.
11. Freaks And Geeks
Not only does Freaks and Geeks make us want to relive the glory days of the '80s, its's unmistakably the breeding ground for all of our favorite stars today. If you want to see Hollywood royalty Seth Rogen and James Franco before their bromantic "Bound 3" days, this is your best bet.
What isn't addicting about this show? It's about a suburban mom that turns to drug dealing to help support her luxurious lifestyle after her husband's sudden death... and it only gets crazier from there. Now you can watch the whole series in one go! That only makes how truly out-of-control things get more rewarding.
Fact: J.D. and Turk’s epic bromance is the best thing since sliced bread. J.D.'s funny voice-overs paired with the slapstick humor from these interns turned doctors will have you in tears. What’s a better way to end Valentine’s Day than with a smile?
14. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
From Charlie's creepy obsession with The Waitress to Sweet Dee’s bad luck with love, there's no question that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia deserves a spot in your V-Day Netflix playlist. Trust us when we say that there's no use fighting it; after watching just one episode of the gang at Paddy's Pub, you're going to have no choice but to join the bright side.
15. The Carrie Diaries
If you are a fan of Sex and the City then you will begrudgingly be drawn into this show. No you won't get the magic of all the girls together (however the young actress who plays Samantha in season two does a hell of a job!) but you will get a new look at one of television's most iconic characters. Her first introduction to the wild city, sex, and men is a roller coaster that will keep you strapped in once you start with the first episode
