Latest Update On Chris Brown's Paris Rape Arrest— The Woman's Detailed Account Of The Assault And Why He Was Released From Jail
He was detained in Paris.
Chris Brown was arrested for alleged rape.
The 29-year-old singer was detained in Paris on Monday on potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions, according to Associated Press. Brown was still in custody on Tuesday, and investigators have two days to decide if they're going to let him go or file preliminary charges.
Brown's publicist declined to comment on the charges or why the singer was in Paris. His lawyer has not responded to requests for comment.
So what happened? The woman who filed the complaint told police that she met Brown and his friends at club Le Crustal overnight Jan. 15-16. After leaving the club, the group allegedly went to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in central Paris.
One of Brown's bodyguards was also detained and is being held by judicial police, along with another unknown individual.
The arrest was first reported by Closer magazine, who reported that the woman accusing Brown is 24 and told police she was raped at the singer's hotel suite. He has been spotted throughout Paris over the last week attending Paris Fashion Week events.
According to the initial report, the woman — aking with other women — went back to Brown's hotel suite after the club. At one point, she told police she found herself in a room alone with Brown and he allegedly raped her. She also said that a friend of his and his bodyguard also raped her that same night.
In an interview with Closer, the woman revealed that the "friend" of Brown's was one of his relatives.
In the interview that was translated from the French magazine, the girl claims that around 4 a.m. on the night of the alleged rape, Brown and his group were going back to the hotel. She asked to home, but someone around the singer took her by her arm and told her: "Come we'll have a good evening." She was put in Brown's car along with another girl.
"Before entering the suite, the bodyguard took everyone's cell phones," she said. "It did not seem surprising given the artist's notoriety and I did not worry ... Once in the suite, we were offered to drink. There was cocaine, shit. There were about fifteen girls, Chris Brown's friends. The music was loud people were coming out ... It was a bit of a mess."
At one point, the unidentified woman said Brown followed her into the bathroom and grabbed her arm. He pulled her into what she described as a "dressing room" and closed the door.
"It's still too difficult for me to explain in detail what he did, but it was brutal and violent," she said. "He was threatening and aggressive. I was very afraid. Once it was over, he opened the door. I told him that I wanted to pick up my cell phone and go home. Chris Brown went to see one of his friends. I thought this person was going to accompany me to the bodyguard for my cell phone, but that's not what he did."
Instead, the woman said the bodyguard locked the door and abused her too. She said she only got away by telling them she had classes the next day.
"It was three muscular men, aggressive and menacing," she said. "I could not do anything. I am traumatized, I can not overcome what happened to me and resume my habits. It's horrible, I'm lost."
Two days later, she went to the police because she doesn't want him to be able to assault any other women.
"Sometimes girls do not dare to speak. They are scared and I understand them, but I want them to stop doing this to girls who have not asked for anything. I just thought I was having a good night with a star. I did not imagine that I was going to find myself locked up with aggressive and menacing men who forced me to do things I did not want."
Update 1/23/2019: On Tuesday, Chris Brown was released from jail without charges or any request for bail. The singer has threatened to sue the accuser, asserting his innocence on his Instagram in a post that has since been deleted.
