Meet Jessica Rose Lee — 'Smallville' Star Tom Welling's New Wife And Baby Mama
Clark Kent found his Lois Lane.
With so much controversy surrounding Smallville lately — specifically, actress Kristen Kruek being involved in the NXIVM cult — we shouldn't forget what a great show it was. It helped launched the career of Tom Welling, who went on to star in Cheaper by the Dozen, Lucifer, and began directing and producing film and television.
But aside from his good looks and acting chops, his personal life is much more interesting, especially the woman who makes his world complete. Who is Jessica Rose Lee? The couple recently got married, but she's more than just the wife of on-screen Clark Kent!
1. She’s from California.
Lee, who now goes by her married name Welling, grew up in Mount Shasta, California, but was born in San Luis Obispo. She attended college at San Diego State University and started a career in the fashion industry. But pretty soon after, she changed course.
2. She’s an equestrian.
After graduating from college, she wanted to combine her love of horses with her love of fashion. She worked as an assistant ride for private training stables, which houses jumping horses, and also organized events at race tracks.
Upon doing research, she discovered that 85 percent of first-time horse owners get rid of their animals within five years, and this inspired her to volunteer.
“I knew my personal time and efforts were making a difference for these animals, but I felt the urge to do more. I want to spread awareness and foster a passion for horses in others. Working in Southern California I come across so many wonderful people that express an interest in horses, and light up every time they are around these amazing animals... Volunteering is the absolute best way to get involved and make a difference for these animals. Start with what is close to you,” she said in an article by Horse & Style Magazine.
3. She has her own lifestyle brand.
Lee not only loves horses, but started a company to help them. She created and founded Saddle Club, which raises awareness for horses in need. Originally, the brand offered riding lessons, but has grown since then. According to Lee, “The evolution of Saddle Club has been completely organic.”
Says the company’s website, “Saddle Club has become a movement for horse-lovers around the world. We are dedicated to raising awareness for rescue horses through our strong social media and marketing platform. We endeavor to benefit American wild horses and rescue horses through sustainable apparel that gives back 20 percent of proceeds to 501(c)3 rescue organizations. We aim to curate a lifestyle that blends equestrian aesthetic with a sustainable, socially responsible way of living.”
4. She and Welling began dating in 2014.
Welling was previously married to Jamie White, whom he wed in 2002 and divorced in 2013. After four years of dating, the couple became engaged.
5. They were pretty slick about announcing the engagement.
The couple didn’t announce their engagement through the press; instead, Welling posted on Instagram and used the hashtag #fiance while video chatting with Lee! In February 2018, Lee made a post of her own and officially referred to Welling as her fiancé: “To my perfect fiancé- I love you to infinity and beyond. Thank you for all of your unwavering support and super-human love. I am so blessed to have you in my life.”
6. The Wellings have a son.
Welling and Lee welcomed their first child, Thomson Wylde Welling, on January 5, 2019. Lee originally made the announcement on social media, posing with her pregnant belly! When their son was born, of course, there was an additional post introducing him to the world.
7. They recently wed!
After years of dating and a child together, the couple are now officially Mr. and Mrs. On November 30th, the two tied the knot at Sunstone Vineyards & Winery in San Ynez, California. Lee eventually changed her Instagram handle to include Welling.
