5 Things To Know About G-Eazy's Alleged Assault Arrest And Cocaine Possession
He was arrested in Sweden
Rapper G-Eazy is reportedly in some major trouble.
He played a show on Wednesday in Stockholm, Sweden. Afterward, he attended a party at a club with his girlfriend, Halsey, and fellow rapper Sean Kingston. There were several videos taken inside the club that show friends handing G-Eazy shots.
Sometime during the party, he became belligerent and attacked a security guard.
Halsey and G-Eazy have been dating for several months, and rumors that they often do drugs together have been circling since the start of their romance. The rapper's recent arrest — which included possession of cocaine — seem to validate those suspicions.
G-Eazy is reportedly still in custody.
Here's everything we know about his arrest:
1. G-Eazy threw the first punch.
After security guards saw that G-Eazy was acting out, several approached him and told him to calm down.
Instead of listening, the rapper started to throw punches and struck one guard in the face several times. He was then detained by police.
2. Cocaine was found in his pocket.
After police detained him, they found cocaine in his pocket. He was taken into custody on suspicion of assault, possession of narcotics and the use of narcotics.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m.
3. Halsey may have been struck during the scuffle.
In the video clip that shows G-Eazy getting put into a police car, you can hear Halsey yelling about getting hit in the face.
TMZ reported that she may have been struck by a security guard during the initial fight.
4. G-Eazy has struggled with addiction before.
In an interview in January, the rapper told Charlemagne Tha God after asked about the multiple references to substance abuse on his songs.
“I don’t know if its recreation or if you’re trying to escape something?” Charlemagne asked.
“Well, I think that’s a blurry line, its not black and white,” G-Eazy said. “I think sometimes the line between recreation or just tapping in turns into leaning on or depending on or escaping from. It’s a balance, it’s a vicious cycle, I’m not gonna lie. Sometimes I’ll just be smooth and tap out for a couple weeks and just be.”
5. He will have to wait until Friday to know if he will be released or not.
According to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper, a court will rule Friday on if he will continue to be detained. A Swedish prosecutor told a Swedish radio station that he believed there was a risk that G-Eazy would flee or try to avoid punishment.
"I consider him to be under strong suspicion of violence against a public servant," Carl Mellberg said.
