Are Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds Divorcing? 8 Awkward Things You Never Knew About Their Relationship
The status of their marriage and what Blake has *total* control of in Ryan's life.
Are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds divorcing? There are a few Hollywood couples that have stood the test of time, fame, fortune and of course, temptations. But Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are the definition of #relationshipgoals as well as #familygoals. When they’re not starring in films or appearing on the red carpet, they’re also raising their two daughters, James and Ines.
Love or hate them, they are the epitome of a power couple — and even raised the bar of their A-list status thanks to their savvy social media skills. Both seem to be either working endlessly to troll each other on Instagram or display their love for each other with PDA. It's almost as if the two are just too beautiful and perfect for common folk to handle.
So when we heard rumors the dynamic duo was heading for Splitsville, we gasped in horror. The rumors sparked when a gossip site shared a post that the couple were “struggling to find quality time together” because of their work schedules.
An insider reportedly told OK! Magazine, "The past few years, Ryan's been working out of town while Blake stays home with the kids. The distance between them has taken its toll.”
It's easy to see how the rumor could be true, as both Reynolds and Lively have had hectic careers ever since meeting on the set of Green Lantern in 2010, all while juggling raising two children.
For fans of the couple, none of the above claims are true. Not only did tabloid police Gossip Cop debunk the report, Reynolds himself addressed the rumors. International Business Times even tweeted: “Deadpool Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively struggling to spend 'quality time'”, tagging Reynolds.
Reynolds responded with the perfect tweet:
“I wish,” the Deadpool star, 41, wrote. “I could use a little ‘me time.'”
Reynolds, 41, and Lively 30, have been married for almost six years and share two daughters, James, 3, and Ines, 18 months.
While most find Reynolds and Lively super-sweet, some of the things they do and say may seem, well, a little awkward to some. Here are a few, lesser-known things about the Hollywood couple that are borderline cringe-y — in a sweet way, of course.
1. They seem almost too perfect together.
Everything about this couple is too perfect! And when they're constantly being touted as #relationshipgoals, their PDAs can perhaps seem a little much. But the pair complements one another so well on the red carpet and in interviews. During a Q&A on AOL Build, Reynolds praised Lively’s red carpet prowess.
“My wife knows how to work a red carpet, I’ll say that,” he said. “Yeah, she might be the Beyoncé of red carpets. She’s turned that into an athletic event.”
On David Letterman, Reynolds gushed, “I used to say to [Blake], ‘I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you.’ I would say that to my wife. And the second I looked in that baby's eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby. I'm not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airwaves but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I'd ever been in my entire life. I couldn't even believe it.”
While some people may gush at these statements, the cynics in the bunch rolled their eyes and literally took Reynolds’ declarations of love at face value — by vomiting! Blake and Ryan seems fully aware their love can cause others to eye-roll.
In an interview with Glamour, in response to Reynold’s poking fun at his kids on Twitter, Blake said, “But oh, I’m so in love with him when he writes that stuff. I mean, I’m in love with him most of the time, but especially with that. I said, ‘Most of the time,’ because if I say, ‘I’m so in love with him all the time,’ then you get that eye-rolling, ‘Oh, her life is so great, she’s so perfect.’”
2. They constantly poke fun at one another.
The action hero most recently poked fun at his wife in the trailer for the Deadpool sequel. In the teaser, his superhero character slammed Lively’s beloved Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie arguing it “is straight-up pornography.” He also dissed the romantic comedy by pointing out that they only made one sequel. Gee, thanks honey!
On Valentine’s Day, Lively took a stab at Reynolds by asking him how to use the dating site E-Harmony. “Can you show me how to download that? Ever since Ashley Madison closed I’ve been so lonely,” she joked of the infamous dating website for cheaters.
And let's not forget her infamous birthday post to Ryan:
3. Blake approve Ryan’s social media.
Before Ryan posts a tweet or Instagram about his professional and personal life, Blake actually approves them first. We all know Ryan is known for having a witty and sarcastic sense of humor but Blake is also somewhat of a comedian and checks first that the social media shares are accurate, or not too personal.
Ryan told Entertainment Tonight that, "Some of the [posts] about our daughter or parenting ones or (with) advice no one should take, I run past [Blake], in case she objects."
4. Ryan enjoys ribbing his own children.
It seems Ryan takes great pleasure in writing hilariously insulting tweets about his daughters, even if they're totally fake. Blake told Glamour that, “[Ryan] may as well work for the Enquirer. When he says ‘my daughter,’ he’s never, ever talking about her. Everything is a completely made-up scenario.” Hopefully their children grow up with the same odd sense of humor. And Ryan's own mom isn't left out of the friendly jesting:
5. Their cheesy displays of love are hysterically over-the-top.
This past Valentine's Day, instead of picking up a bouquet of flowers, or taking his wife out for an elaborate dinner, the actor showed off some baking skills on Instagram. Reynolds baked a heart-shaped, strawberry-covered cake garnished with pink and red sprinkles, topped off with heart-shaped marshmallow. "I baked this cake for my wife," Reynolds wrote in an Instagram post. "The icing is glue, 'cause I'm not a scientist."
6. They don't get jealous of each other's sex scenes.
During an interview on Good Morning America, Lively said that being married to another actor helps their relationship. “In general, it’s nice to have somebody who understands what you’re doing. Especially because our job is so weird. You have to be married to other people; it’s all so strange. It’s never normal, even when we’re both doing it. Because I have friends who aren’t married to someone who’s in the business, so they’re like, “Oh, so you’re not actually making love in that scene?!” And I’m like, “No, no, no, no, definitely not.”
7. Ryan makes fun of his wife’s appearance.
Reynolds went as far as to poke fun at Lively after unflattering photos of the actress on set of her new film emerged. She was sporting baggy sweats, her gorgeous blonde mane hidden, and she had no makeup on. The 30-year-old is currently shooting The Rhythm Section opposite Jude Law. But Reynolds couldn't help but share a photo of her on Instagram, with the caption #nofilter. Nice, hubby, real nice!
8. Their secret wedding was planned perfectly.
When the couple planned on their wedding, they decided to celebrate in privacy – sort of. They called on friend and and neighbor Martha Stewart to help plan and elaborately style the top-secret event in Charleston, South Carolina. Later, of course, the couple graciously allowed Martha Stewart Weddings to “share pictures of the elements we created together.”
