This isn't your first time at the life-rodeo. We’ve all heard someone referred to as an old soul and it can be a confusing description.
What does it mean to say that someone is an old soul? Does it mean that they’re old or that they act old? Can an old soul be up on current trends or do they stand out in the way that they’re solidly old-fashioned?
When someone is described as having an old soul it simply means that they’re wise beyond their years. They’re mature, they think before they act and they tend not to act irrationally.
It's as if they’ve been here before and they picked up some knowledge and understanding along the way. If you believe in reincarnation or past lives, someone with an old soul has done this life thing before.
Sometimes a person with an old soul prefers to spend their time alone and they avoid crowds; they tend to be introverts rather than extroverts. They tend to be a bit withdrawn and thoughtful.
Old souls like people but they need time to think and consider the mysteries of life. Although they do have friends, they don’t collect friends the way some people do; they’re more selective because they take interpersonal relationships very seriously. They need people that they can relate to and who they can trust implicitly.
Those with old souls aren’t into material or flashy things, they don’t usually indulge in gossip, and they’re not interested in anything that is trendy or doesn’t pass the test of time. If you’re an old soul you value experiences, original thought, and people.
