If you've been single for a long time, it's probably because you're not focused on your relationship status.

Love has taken a back seat to work, hobbies and friendships and for the most part, that's how you like it.

Relationships are all encompassing and tend to take over our entire lives.

But every now and then, a wave of loneliness hits, and you realize just how long it's been since you've went on an actual date.

You could get a date tonight — if you really wanted to.

"Wanted to," being the key words here.

What we don't like to admit about dating, is that it's sometimes a numbers game. You have to talk to 100 guys to go on dates with 50 to only find you just like 10 of them but only 2 call you back.

The wider net you cast, the more fish you reel in.

You'll have times in your single life where going fishing sounds like a fun way to spend your weekends, and you'll have times where you'd rather jump off a cliff than download Tinder again.

Both avenues are fine, as long as you don't forget that you're the one in charge.

And isn't that the best thing about being single
