When the days are hot like they are right now, everybody becomes somewhat desperate for something fun and inventive that will help to cool them off.

For this summer, one that promises to be extra warm and humid, the thing that will really turn your brunch into something memorable and festive are champagne ice cubes. Can you say mimosas?

You don't need to be a billionaire or anything to enjoy them either. All you need is an ice cube tray (you can find them at any discount or home goods store), and a bottle of your favorite champagne or Prosecco. Then pour the champagne evenly into the ice cube tray and let it freeze at least six hours, but overnight is best.

Don't be opening up the door to check on the ice cubes all the time; you don't want to waste energy. Just let the freezer do its thing! When the cubes are frozen (though they won't be as rock solid as regular cubes), pop these effervescent squares of delight into your orange juice, grapefruit juice, or other fruity drink and enjoy. FreshDirect also recommends putting the champagne cubes in ginger ale for a delicious drink.

If you want to really dazzle your brunch guests, set up a mimosa bar and let them make their own creations. Obviously, the champagne cubes won't fizz as much as a direct pour of champagne, but they taste just as good and look spectacular. People will be talking about your mimosa bar for years to come.

You don't even need to have a party to enjoy these champagne ice cubes — celebrate the weekend or making it through a work day! We all deserve a fabulous treat now and then.

Raise your glass and toast to this wonderful way to stay cool for the summer. Cheers to champagne ice cubes!
