"Once you bring children into the world, you do sort of give up some of your own personal autonomy that it's 'all about me'," says Doares.
"And that is why counseling — going for help — is so important because you can learn the techniques you need to be happy, to stay in a good marriage for both of you," says Drobnick, "as well as — if the decision is to separate — help you uncouple so that your children can be resilient and grow and feel safe with the divorce process."
