The era of Team Edward and Team "Whatshisname?Oh,whocaresIhatedTwilightanyway" is over. Can I get an internet "hallelujah"? Now, we've all moved on to more pressing matters: Team Peeta vs. Team Gale in The Hunger Games.
If you haven't read The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, you need to remedy that asap before the movie opens this Friday, March 23. But for those of you who somehow missed that pop culture bandwagon, here is the summary: The books chronicle a dystopia where children are forced to battle to the death in a real-life gladiator meets Survivor television show, organized by the evil Capital, the city that rules all. Prim Everdeen is chosen by lottery to be the district's representative at the Hunger Games. Her sister Katniss, the books' badass hero, volunteers to go in Prim's place. A love story and a revolution ensue.

At the heart of the love story are Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne. Gale is Katniss' childhood friend, who teaches her everything she knows about hunting. Peeta, who is also chosen for the Hunger Games, is willing to sacrifice his life for Katniss. While the book is part political commentary, part love story, both aspects of the book stand their ground. Like love and politics, there are no easy answers here. And the choice between Peeta and Gale isn't an easy one for Katniss.
And it isn't easy for me either. Here's a brief breakdown of the characters to help you choose. And, may the odds be ever in your favor.
Peeta is the nice boy. He's been kind to Katniss since they were young, often at the risk of beatings by his mother. He's willing to lay down his life for the woman he loves. He's artistic and ladies, the man bakes! But don't think that he's a pushover. Peeta is tenacious and strong, he survives the Hunger Games through the sheer force of his will and his heart.
Like his name suggests, Gale is a force of nature. Stubborn and fierce, he is a true warrior. But he's not all bad boy. Gale is a complex and troubled. His family has been torn to pieces by the Capital and he seeks a vicious revenge. He is also completely authentic. Katniss describes him as "the only person with whom I can be myself."
You know what? Forget it. I'm just going with Team Finnick!
