6 Infamous Celebrity Sex Tape Stars
These celebs are as famous for their work behind closed doors as their work on stage and screen.
With Carrie Prejean and Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart making headlines with their now-public dirty deeds, and rumors of a Jon Gosselin vid on the horizon, we thought we'd take a look back at those shameless celebs who blazed the trail for all of our current and future sex tape stars.
Rob Lowe – In an unforgettable '80s scandal, Rob was caught in bed with two girls that he met at a bar during the Democratic National Convention. (Bill Clinton must have been so proud!) However, it turned out that one of the girls was underage, a fact that Rob swore he did not know. As if that wasn't a big enough blow to his rep, the second part of the tape, featuring Rob and a male friend having sex with a model, was made public in 1988, becoming one of the first "retail" sex tapes.
Pamela Anderson – The Godmother of Sex Tapes has seen not one, but two of her naughty vids go public. The first was in 1998, when a tape of Pam romping with then-husband Tommy Lee on their honeymoon was stolen from the couple's home. After the video was plastered all over the Internet, Anderson and Lee sued the video distribution company and received $1.5M in profits. The second was taped prior to the Pam/Tommy video, as it featured Pam with her former boyfriend Bret Michaels, but wasn't released until 2005. Bret managed to block distribution of the tape, but an abbreviated "teaser" can still be found online. Pam Anderson Tells Kids About Sex Tape
Paris Hilton and Rick Salomon – In 2004, professional sleazebag, Rick Salomon, released a "night vision" tape of him and Paris doing the nasty, which was later titled 1 Night in Paris. When Paris claimed that she was "out of it" during the video and never approved of its release, Rick sued her for defamation. Hilton countersued and received an undisclosed out-of-court settlement. However, Paris may have given the money to charity, as she told GQ in 2006, "I never received a dime from it. It's just dirty money."

Kim Kardashian and Ray-J – Although most sex tape scandals happen to people who are already celebrities, Kim was one of the first who became a celebrity because of her sex tape. The tape, featuring Kim and then-boyfriend Ray-J, was made public in 2007 and purchased from a mysterious "third party" by Vivid Entertainment. Kim sued Vivid, calling their actions "despicable," but changed her tune when the distributor offered her $5M to drop the suit. Soon after, Kim and Ray-J became reality stars on E! and VH1, respectively. Are Sex Tapes Good For Relationships?
Dustin Diamond – Remembering that Screech from Saved By the Bell released a sex tape makes Jon Gosselin's vid seem slightly more palatable, doesn't it? Dustin's video, which depicted him having a ménage a trois with two unknown women, was "leaked" in 2006, allegedly by a friend of a friend. However, Dustin's manager admitted to the New York Daily News that he hoped that the tape would raise Dustin's profile and help him escape being typecast. Perhaps the publicity stunt worked too well. When was the last time Dustin Diamond was cast in anything, let alone typecast?
Verne Troyer and Ranae Shrider – The sex tape everyone would like to forget ever existed was released in 2008 by Ranae, Verne's girlfriend at the time. Ranae later claimed that she "really cared" about the pint-sized performer and wasn't trying to "cash in" on her 15 minutes of fame. Hmm, did she really have a full 15 minutes anyway? It seemed more like 7-10, tops.
