Meet Iggy Azalea's Rumored Baby Daddy Playboi Carti
Many signs are pointing to multi-platinum recording artist Iggy Azalea expecting a bundle of joy.
getty Iggy Azalea, born Amethyst Amelia Kelly, started rapping as a teenager, moving from her native Australia to the United States at 16. Her first proper studio effort followed when she was 21 years old, the Ignorant Art mixtape, which generated enough buzz to land her a record deal with T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records in 2012.
Azalea's career took off on a global scale with 2013's The New Classic, which yielded international hits via "Work," "Change Your Life," "Fancy" and "Black Widow." The success of The New Classic led to Azalea's record company re-issuing the album as Reclassified with five new songs. In support of Reclassified, Azalea announced a large-scale arena tour and work a followup studio album. However, poor ticket sales and then-unannounced personal problems would led to cancellation of that arena tour.
Ultimately Azalea's career would rebound and bring her back into the spotlight in a big way. She announced a deal with NBC Universal in 2016 for her company Azalea Street Productions to create original content. She also became a judge on The X Factor Australia that year. She has since released new music, most recently releasing “In My Defense” earlier this year.
Who is Playboi Carti? Iggy Azalea is confirmed to be in a relationship with him. Carti is signed to A$AP Mob's AWGE Label, which is part of the Interscope Records family. His made his debut via a mixtape in 2017 and found international fame with the 2018 album Die Lit.
Prior to dating Azalea, Playboi Carti was in a relationship with Blac Chyna. The 2017 BET Hip Hop Award nominee for "Best New Hip Hop Artist" is not known to have any children from prior relationships.
Aside from her career, rumors have surfaced that Azalea is currently pregnant, and if so with Playboi Carti’s child, as much as six months along in her pregnancy. Here's what we do know about Iggy Azalea's presumed maternity situation and possible baby daddy.
So, who is Playboi Carti and what's going on in his relationship with Iggy Azalea?
1. Iggy Azalea does not currently have any children.
Iggy Azalea is not currently the mother of any children. Last year she tweeted, "As a role model, I don't think I'm a great one. I consider what I do now knowing there are younger people watching me and there are things I wouldn't do on stage any more." Azalea also said, "I don't sit in the studios wondering what somebody's mom would say about my lyrics."
Azalea's ex-boyfriend, NBA star Nick Young — who left Iggy Azalea for his high school sweetheart Keonnia Nicole — by comparison has several children. "I have never even been told by Nick that his baby mother is pregnant," Azalea wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted. "I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on the security footage."
2. Azalea is not showing a baby bump.
As many media outlets are buzzing about the possibility of Iggy Azalea being pregnant, many people have been taking extra notice of her stomach. After all, a person who is around six months pregnant ought to have a difficult time hiding such.
However, Azalea has recently taken to showing off her toned stomach with mid-riff baring photos. Most recently, in an Instagram photo published to her official account on December 18, 2019, she's wearing a revealing swimsuit with abs on full display.
Carti, by comparison, has only posted nine times to his Instagram account as of this article’s writing and none of those photos show Iggy Azalea. Carti’s most recent Twitter posting was from almost six months ago on June 24, 2019.
3. Who is Playboi Carti? He's had had legal troubles in recent years.
In July 2017, Carti was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for domestic battery of his then-girlfriend. He was released shortly after the incident and released after posting a $20,000 bond. However, the following month Carti had been cleared of those domestic battery charges.
In February 2018, while touring Europe, Carti was arrested for assaulting a tour bus driver. Per testimony, Carti had punched a bus driver after vehicle troubles caused travel delays. Carti denied the assault, although admitted to causing damage to the bus. However, he was ultimately found guilty within this criminal matter and was sentenced to close to $1,000 in fines by the Dumfries Justice of the Peace Court in January 2019.
4. Azalea has been sporting an engagement-looking diamond ring.
On the other side of justice, Iggy Azalea made headlines on November 22nd when a police report was released, which detailed a recent home robbery involving Azalea and Playboi Carti. Among the items stolen were a $57,000 Audemars Piguet watch, a $39,000 Cuban link chain and a $35,000 diamond ring.
However, when readers began to speculate that the $35,000 diamond ring was an engagement ring, Azalea was quick to deny such. On November 23rd via an Instagram story that's since been deleted, she wrote, Never said anything about an engagement ring etc... Please stop involving me in this story circulating in the media today.”
5. Azalea's reading what other people write about her.
Among the more popular social media accounts out there related to Iggy Azalea is the fan-run "@iggycarti" on Instagram. As the name of the account also includes "carti," one must assume that the account's moderator is also keeping an eye on the aforementioned Playboi Carti.
As noted with the biography field of the "iggycarti" Instagram account, "Iggy liked ×2" — which implies that Azalea has liked posts published there on more than one occasion. Five of the account's six most recent postings include Playboi Carti within its visuals, including its most recent posting from December 16th.
6. Azalea's reportedly keeping some things to herself.
Last month it was announced that there were delays related to Iggy Azalea's forthcoming EP. The EP, titled Wicked Lips, was slated to be released on November 22nd. Why the EP was delayed was not directly explained on the week of release.
Azalea took to social media to clear the air about the EP's delay. She began: "please cut me some extra slack guys, I hear your frustration about the EP delay." Continued Azalea: "Im not ignoring your questions because I don’t care. sometimes I cant give fans explanations because I’m Just not comfortable sharing everything publicly."
Considering that Iggy Azalea is "not comfortable sharing everything publicly," fans and media sources may have to keep digging for clues as to whether or not Azalea is expecting a child in the near future.
