As we first looked into a few days ago, Megan Thee Stallion has been rumored to be dating everyone from Tristan Thompson (Khloe Kardashian's baby daddy) to Trey Songz (who became a father not too long ago). However, as she said, "if I ain't claiming him, he ain't mine." The only one that she made clear that she was "dealing with" was Moneybagg Yo — and the status of their relationship is questionable, at best.
Let's look at what we know about this is-he-or-isn't-he-dating-her rapper who's rumored to be Megan Thee Stallion's boyfriend.
1. Who is Moneybagg Yo?
He was born Demario Dewayne White, Jr. in Memphis. Moneybagg Yo is a rapper signed to Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group, where he's been since 2016. He's released a series of mixtapes, including Federal 3X, his twelfth mixtape, which debuted at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 charts. His highest-charting mixtape was 43va Heartless, which was released in May 2019, and debuted at No 4. on the US Billboard 200 charts.
2. He has a little bit of controversy around him
Like most rappers today, Moneybagg Yo is not without his fair share of controversy. In March 2016, he was arrested — along with more than 28 others — during his CD release party in Tennessee. He was hit with drug and gun charges, and during the raid, the police confiscated 10 loaded guns, cash, drugs, and a bulletproof vest. More than 60 local, state and federal agents were involved in the raid, and even the concert organizer was arrested for selling alcohol to minors. The next year, in August 2017, he was also allegedly involved in a shooting at a rest stop in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
3. Moneybagg Yo and Megan Thee Stallion seemed to be getting along rather well
For a time, it looked like Moneybagg Yo and Megan Thee Stallion were getting along rather well. In September 2019, Megan Thee Stallion reportedly gave Moneybagg Yo a $150,000 piece of jewelry designed by celebrity jeweler Iceman Nick for his birthday. Moneybagg Yo also backed up Megan Thee Stallion when 50 Cent started his infamous online trolling, and they appeared in a video together.
4. But it somehow blew up in their faces
In October 2019, Megan Thee Stallion posted a series of tweets that seemed to "subtweet" Moneybagg Yo. "I don't even chase liquor — why would I chase a [expletive]," she started. "I'm thee [sic] type to pull your card so lil [expletive] please don't bet me." Moneybagg Yo took this as a slight and fired back in comments of his own.
5. Was the Moneybagg Yo and Megan Thee Stallion relationship all for publicity?
In a since-deleted Instagram story, Moneybagg Yo implied that his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion was all for headlines. "Was never my b*tch [brown skinned shrug emoji] [Black Rap game fulla smoke & mirrors…It was all publicity…dn’t believe da hype. Been wit da same b*tch 10 years + Through da ups & downs b4 the come up. [fingers crossed emoji] World might not know but the city (Memphis) do! Real rap no cap [cap emoji]," he said. (Translation: I was never dating Megan Thee Stallion. The music industry is all about smoke and mirrors, and that 'relationship' was all for publicity. In reality, I've been with the same woman for more than 10 years — she and I were together before I even became famous. Even though everyone else may not know who she is, the people in the city of Memphis do.)
6. But they're still friends.
In an interview with Hot 97, Moneybagg Yo said that even though their "relationship" (for whatever it was worth) didn't work out, they're still "good." He also said that it's imperative to not believe everything one reads in the media and that he has more songs coming out with Megan.
7. Or are they?
In this day and age, people judge other people's relationship — be it platonic or otherwise — based on their social media interactions, and who follows who. Even though Moneybagg Yo initially said that he and Megan Thee Stallion were "good," he later wrote in a since-deleted tweet that "clout-chasing b*tches" (that is, women who are thirsty for attention and fame) were "out here playing they self" (that is, making a fool of themselves). While the rapper didn't tag anyone, Megan Thee Stallion took that comment as "shade" towards her, and promptly unfollowed Moneybagg Yo on Instagram. Not long after, Moneybagg Yo returned the favor.
Looks like that's a wrap, Jack!
