However, with a bit of luck, recommendations from friends and family and Google searching, you can find a podcast that covers nearly any topic known to man. This is amazing, and it doesn’t end there.
Because podcasts are easily uploaded to sites like YouTube, even regular people (like you and me!) can create and share podcasts.
Whether you’re the type of podcast listener who enjoys a good story no matter what you’re doing or the listener who only turns on his/her podcast app during long drives, these podcasts must be added to your library immediately. Even if you’ve never listened to a podcast before in your life, these podcasts give you the perfect opportunity to start listening. And, trust me, it’s hard not to become a frequent listener.
OK, I’ll admit that I’m a bit biased toward all of these podcasts, but that doesn’t mean they’re not fantastic, inspiring and informative. Without further ado, here are 6 podcasts that you need in your life.
1. "Serial"
This is a must-listen podcast for anyone who likes stories told well, thoroughly and accurately. Sarah Koenig searches for evidence in suspicious murder cases, Taliban prisons and the who criminal justice system to find the truth. She’s refreshingly honest, engaging and funny when discussing some serious subjects that have impacted so many lives.
In the podcast’s three seasons, you can see the plot unfold week after week, making you form your own opinion of what really happened. By interviewing the people involved, insuring their anonymity when necessary and reminding listeners of the facts, Koenig really packs a metaphorical punch. Be sure to check out the other “This American Life” podcasts, too!
2. "Love Me"
“Love Me” delves deep into the human consciousness to determine how people actually relate to one another. The CBC original is truly unique in that it releases snippets of people’s lives through poems, paintings, technology and even music.
While the podcast covers some depressing topics such as Alzheimer’s, PTSD and death, it’s all about relating to others’ struggles and understanding them. You will feel inspired to change the way you think about your relationships after listening.

3. "Strangers"
The storytelling podcast, “Strangers,” is similar to “Love Me.” It hopes to foster empathy in its listeners and expose the world to different perspectives. The podcast creates hope, encourages listeners to dream and so much more. Really, there are no words for this podcast besides “sensational.” I strongly advise you to go listen for yourself.

4. "Dear Sugars"
This podcast has used the “Dear Abby” style and brought it to the digital age. “Dear Sugars” is an NPR-sponsored podcast that offers advice to listeners about anything. And I mean anything. Nothing is off-limits, and the two co-hosts tackle issues from problems with self-worth to toxic relationships.
The hosts often disagree, building off of each other until a solution is found. However, in the process, they discuss important aspects of relationships, life and love. If you’re really into advice shows, then the Dear Hank 7 John podcast might be great for you as well!

5. "The Road to Now."
Unlike the other podcasts on this list, “The Road to Now” is a history podcast. It focuses on historical figures and events that have affected the status of the world today. Though, you’ll find that it’s far more entertaining than you might originally assume.
Created by Bob Crawford from The Avett Brothers band and Dr. Benjamin Sawyer, the podcast simply explains complex topics and answers interesting questions that have been plaguing the minds of listeners.
