Are Derek Peth And Stephanie Pratt Dating?
Derek Peth and Stephanie Pratt went on a blind date. Is it love?
Reality TV worlds collided this week when a Hills star and a former Bachelorette contestant went on a blind date.
As impossible as it sounds for two people with resumés like that to have not known anything about each other before meeting up for drinks, that’s what happened between Stephanie Pratt and Derek Peth. Peth’s friend and Stephanie’s podcast co-host Wells Adams set the two up. Peth didn’t know about Stephanie or about The Hills before the date.
The date kicked off on kind of delay, with Pratt showing up an hour late but after that, things started to heat up.
Are Stephanie Pratt and Derek Peth dating? Read on for all the details.
1. Reality Royalty
Stephanie Pratt has a true OG reality pedigree. She was a star on MTV's The Hills from 2007-2010. She first appeared on the show in her role as sister to infamous Spencer Pratt. Spencer was dating Heidi Montag, whom he later married, and was blamed for the souring of Montag’s friendship with Lauren Conrad. Stephanie’s role on the show grew in later seasons, particularly after Conrad left the series. Stephanie appeared on other reality shows like Celebrity Big Brother and Chelsea Made. She eventually published a memoir called Made in Reality: From the Hills of L.A. to London's Made in Chelsea, which talked about her reality career as well as personal issues such as her struggles with addiction. She now hosts a successful podcast.
Meanwhile, Derek Peth was a contestant on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette. He was eliminated in the sixth week that season but later reprised his role in the franchise by appearing on Bachelor in Paradise. Despite his own reality street cred, he claims to have been in the dark about Stephanie’s shows and said he didn’t know anything about her before their date.
2. Set up
The former Bachelorette contestant is friends with Wells, who co-hosts the Pratt Cast with Stephanie and he decided the two of them would hit it off and arranged a date. But things didn’t go quite as planned at the beginning. Peth told Wells that “It took an hour and 15 minutes before Stephanie finally showed up. Her reasoning is she was in Hawaii and they don’t have daylight savings time, and she never changed her clock, and she thought it was a different time. Probably the third thing I said to her was you need to pick out food because the kitchen closes in ten minutes.”
3. Better late than never
The late start was a bummer but it didn’t keep Peth from getting to know Pratt a little bit once she arrived. He claimed to be “pleasantly surprised” about how much fun she was, saying “she’s a lot smarter than I thought and very quick. There was not an empty dull moment.”
4. Bar Hopping
After their hasty dinner, they took off to go bar hopping. Peth said they hit up two different Irish bars, hanging out with another couple they met along the way. They spend a couple of hours going between bars and just generally having a good time.
“I would definitely see her again,” remarked Peth.
5. Kiss and tell
The date didn’t end with drinks at Irish bar. Peth says that by the end of the night things were getting a little hot and steamy between the pair. They had a bit of a make our session and Pratt actually suggested that he stay longer. He told Adams that he would love to hang out with her more saying “It would be cool to do New York.”
6. Stephanie’s take
Pratt wasn’t there for the debriefing conversation the two guys had but she did weigh in via social media. She popped up on Instagram to say “Where to begin?! My cohost @wellsadams set me up on a blind date last Sunday with his bestie @pethderek … I kinda made the date,” she wrote. “However, I did not make it to the #PrattCast studio the next to talk about it. The boys roast me on last week’s episode!! It’s hilarious. Today, I was able to tell my side of the story!! Listen to last week’s now!!! Link in bio — it’s a LOLZZZZ episode!! And today’s episode will be live as well.”
Once she got a chance to go on air oMarchch 25, she said “He’s a great guy, like a great guy. I need to hang out with him again.”
